TV recommendation... Vizio e70?

I currently have an older Panasonic 50" plasma. It has been a great TV and still looks great at night. However, we recently moved and the living room has many windows; not to mention I sit a bit further back at approximately 10 feet. The resulting glare makes watching difficult during the day; thus the desire to upgrade. Looking around, it looks like the Vizio E70 might be a good option for me (and I certainly like the low price). Anybody else own one of these that had a plasma? Thoughts? Anything else I should consider near the same price? I like to watch a lot of sports, especially hockey. Outside of that, the TV would mainly be used for bluray/netflix/ps4.

Depends on if size or picture is your primary concern. For the price, M-series is a decent picture for the price.

If you have a bigger budget, then I would probably look at Samsung or Sony. Only displays I've seen for LG is the curved ones. Not a big fan of curved.

I went from a 42" plasma to a 55" led about 7 years ago. No regrets. Ive been looking at the 65" and 70" Vizios as well.

I'm in the process of doing just that myself. Done a ton of research, looked at a million sets in person. Here's the scoop.....

All leds/lcd TV's are going to have some degree of washout when viewed at angles. The degree of those angles vary, but the better more expensive sets are more friendly in that area. Not the case with plasma's that your accustomed to.

Motion blur....going to be an issue on the cheaper sets if your a sports fan. Get the best processor in a TV you can. IMHO.....Samsung and Sony do it the best, but not on their entry level stuff....nobody does well in this regard on their entry level sets. Some don't even do well on their mid level stuff. This was never an issue with plasma.

Color and black levels.....you won't miss much from the plasma. Plus clarity is greatly improved on the newer leds.

4K sets have a great pic, even on cable channels, but again.....cheaper sets not so much. Also, in the 4k arena, quality seems to be an issue with all of them to some degree and software bugs/ 3d performance.

If you don't care about 4k or 3d, I would look at a Sony kdl 800, 850 series which are mid line over the 900-950 series in the KDL lineup and deliver a darn good pic without the added bells and whistles on the cheap. Samsung has a few good offerings too in their non 4k lineup.

To my eyes, Sony and Samsung come as close if not better in some areas than plasma. Much depends on budget, but don't just shoot for cheap because that will be reflected in the picture quality/motion blur/ lag....if your a gamer, and off axis viewing.

I have a 58" Samsung Plasma that I replaced with a 78" Samsung Curve TV

The 4K Curve is the best TV I have ever owned, was well worth the investment....

Larry which model did you snag ? I've heard people either hate or love that curve. Some say it's too reflective....what say you ?

I got a good deal on a Samsung 75j6300. It delivers Monday. I'll let you know what I think

The 70 inch Vizios are on display at Costco and Best Buy.
They seem to be a nice display.

I have a 64" Sammy plasma in the HT rig and a 55 " Sammy 4k in the br. The 4k is very nice but I think the plasma is more realistic for movies. The 4k is really great for sports.
