Died last Thursday rescuing people who were prisoners of ISIS in Iraq.

It's the Soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press.

It's the Soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.

It's the soldier, not the politicians that ensures our right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

It's the Soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag.

One of the best of the best, died from gunfire while in combat near Hawijah Iraq. He was deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

Ironically he provided the very blanket of freedom to protect anyone's speach who would foolishly deny he died in combat. Would love to see them on a mission like that and then deny it was combat while they were curled up in a corner soiling themselves.

I had heard before he was a member of Delta Force. I don't doubt that, he was an extremely decorated war hero.

The sad part to me is this occurred in a region so many died to liberate. The vacuum created by reckless policy decisions will no doubt lead to more casualties for us and an increasing horror for those forced to live under the terrorists known as ISIS. I digress for touching on the political here, so I will leave it at that.

True....but yet another good man gave his life for this, and I have to ask why. We've fought 2 wars there and what have we gained besides insurmountable debt and thousands of lost lives. The middle east was actually a safer place before all this than it is now.

Unfortunately though, the situation as it presents itself requires yet another war to take place. Europe is already in trouble, the middle east in the worst shape that I can remember, Russia going back to it's old ways and China staying on it's path of building up militarily and claiming land and sea. Plus we have our own internal wars brewing here at home. Add to all that just about every world economy is in the toilet and you have a cesspool of trouble brewing in the wings. Turbulent times my friends....and more lives will have to be sacrificed....and the cycle starts all over again.

Wasn't it Robin Williams who once said "times of peace" are when everybody pauses to re-load ?

In the construction business, we used to have a saying when on jobsites with multiple contractors all trying to do their individual thing....."US First". Meaning....we take precedence. Maybe it's time for America to put itself first, control what we can, not pay attention to what you can't. I get that world politics is a slippery slope at best, but our noses are best kept improving what we have here, rather than trying to influence others to be more like us. We can no longer afford to fight others battles for them with our money and our lives, it really is as simple as that.
