Did I make a mistake
I have a Yamaha receiver and have trying to purchase a decent set up for it speaker wise. I started out with some Pioneer sdf3k's which had a nice warm sound, but didn't seem to have much in the way of mids, so I began to look again. I purchased some B&W bookshelf speakers about a year ago thinking they would give me the sound I was looking for. That was a definite wrong turn. The next stop was the Axiom website where I ordered a pair of m22ti's after reading about the great midrange these possessed. The tale was true, but I have slowly come to the conclusion that these speakers, although pretty good are hard to listen to for extended periods of time. Does anyone here have any suggestions where I should look next?

Seperates system or an external amplifier if your receiver has pre outs. I'm sure the reason you didn't enjoy those B&W was because you were using a Yamaha receiver to power them. I don't know anybody who don't like the mids produced by B&W. Also, maybe your ears are used to the 'thick' sound of the Pioneer.
What are you using as a source, cable, etc? What kind of sound are you looking for?

I have heard other people mention this as well about Axiom and Yamaha. I have heard they sound similar to the Paradigm Monitors (which I own) but more detailed. It must be their Titanium tweeters or similar backgrounds with the NRC in Ottawa. Anyway if you find them fatiguing have a listen to the Polk RTi series. They have warmer highs which you may prefer.Graham

Axioms are rather forward sounding speakers. So explain what you mean by hard to listen to for extended periods of time? Too harsh on the highs?
What is your source (cd player) and what kind of interconnects are you running? Is your Yamaha one of the newer models like the 1300 or 1400? -
Polk Audio Lsi15's or 9's!!!!!

I see the problem. There are no Polk speakers in your rig.
