I have a Sansui G-9000DB that I just sort of resurrected from the dead. After taking the unit damn near completely apart to do all that was needed to put it back into playing condition and after listening for a while I find I quite like it. The problem...The guy I bought it from told me that his step dad bought it from a man whose wife got pissed and beat the front of the unit with a hammer yes, with a hammer. I do believe it to be so as the marks on the face plate indicate just that. So what I would ask is this, any ideas from you all as to a way to improve the looks ? It is all aluminum and plastic/lexan/plexi/?. As you all well know finding another face plate will be really tough if not impossible. Any and all ideas would be appreciated. It does not have to be perfect, not even near perfect just an option or so to make it look better...Thanks.

So sad . Domestic violence towards audio equipment should be a crime. Had a similar incident with wife slamming fist down on a receiver and bent top cover just behind faceplate (one of those turn that **** down moments).
A dedicated listening room was then a priority . Now there is peace .
I'm not sure what can be done to refinish that front plate. Hopefully someone will chime in with some real world experience. Finding the same model for cheap that is burnt on the inside but with good faceplate and knobs would be ideal.

Agree 100%, should be punishable by law ! And oh yes, I will keep a close eye on E Pay...Thanks, something good will come along...I have no doubt ! -
I've seen faceplates come up, but not very often for the 9000.
I'd also check over at audio karma."The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." --Thomas Jefferson -
I'd recommend the guy get a new wife. Life's too short for crazy.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

I am a very blessed man. My wife would be much more likely to buy me a vintage receiver than even think of scratching one...She wants me happy, and I always want the same for her...undoubtedly, I will find a way to make the old Sui look better..
