Wouldn't it be cool to turn a pair of LSi centers into a pair of modern day SDA's? I could almost see someone at polk doing this and selling a kit to us DIY'ers. If they did would anyone try it? (the lsi centers sell for about $350 each used) They would be a pretty weird shape for a pair of speakers.

Not sure where you're going max... To me the center is the one ch you really want more focused.

tour2ma, he is suggesting taking a PAIR of LsiC's and putting in a SDA crossover, I think we have had this discussion before using CS400i centers, something that "could" work and is already in production to keep tooling costs down, or as madmax is saying, something that could be done as an upgrade kit.

It will be interesting to see what size of speaker Polk will introduce if they bring back a SDA line of speakers. Will it be a small CRS+ type of speaker, mid size or something along the 2.3, 1.2 or SRT models. Hard to say, but I would guess something in the midsize floorstanding, big enough to be full range, and at the same time affordable enough to sell to as many people as they can to make it worth the effort.

You are correct Russ. A single sda center would be a hoot! If you were to have one you would have to feed not only the center channel to it but also the left and right. The upside is that you wouldn't need an SDA cable. :) As a matter of fact I don't think you would need a left or right speaker either. :D

After hoosier's reply thought this was about using paired centers with their horizontal MW arrays as a CRS type base for a modern SDA. Plausible, thinks I...

Then max hit me with his all-in-one center and I dunno...

max, I think it's a matter of how wide the all-in-1 would be. Do need some separation of SDA's to get the effect.

I'd buy it for sure. But I'd rather see it happen on the cheap centers. Just a fun tweak for us forum members wanting to experience SDA.

I wonder if anyone have ever tried two centers with SDA x-overs. You can still purchase the x-overs from Polk right? I wouldn't mind trying this out in the summer if you guys think it will work.

Just checked and the SDA x-overs are listed in sevice and parts.

Do you guys think it will work if the cut-off frequencies on the drivers of the SDA are close enough to a CSi center? I'd like to try it with a pair of smaller and cheaper CSi cneter.
