New HT setup/ Match Receiver to speaker set
Hello Guys:
I am in the process of putting together a HT system and in need of input/advice. Mostly use it for watching movies. Room 14x20. The following is what I have been leaning towards:
Onkyo TX-NR646
Polk RTI A5
Polk CSI A4
Polk F/XiA4 (2)
Polk DSW Pro 440wi or 550wi
Any insight/thoughts on the above combination, especially match between the receiver and the speaker set is appreciated. Thanks.

1) I'd look to another brand as far as subwoofer.
2) Yes, you can drive all those speakers from that AVR but you won't be doing them any favors and that AVR doesn't have preouts as far as I can see. This means you will NOT be able to add a separate amplifier down the line.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

Agree with nightfall. Would look at SVS PB1000 for a sub close to same price range. As far as AVR would probably suggest:

Personally I like Onkyo products, but these guys will play a little better with the A5's a little better depending on application.
The Yamaha will be better at HT application, IMHO. Just what these guys are really good at.
Marantz will be better for music. Know that isn't your emphasis, but some people think the Yamaha and RTI speakers just to mesh well with music. I like the Aventage line with them personally.

Welcome to the forum! I think that overall u have a nice system picked out.
The rti speakers are on the bright side, so a warmer receiver is recommended. Marantz fits that bill. But the better yamahas would also work nicely.
And I definitely second the sub choice. Another option: http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/stf-2.html. Very musical, great for movies as well, will smoke both the polks, and is about the same price.
