They are not interchangeable.Political Correctness'.........defined

Not sure how accurate this list is. All vintage replacement drivers are $50.

can someone tell me what the part number was for the original monitor 10 mids? The grey basket type. Mine don't have either label. Is it wm 6500 or wm 6501? Thank you

Most likely the 6500. They pop up on eBay from time to time. Polk will probably substitute the 6503, but if you want them to look as original, with the fiber gaskets, then your only source is eBay.
Check the DCR of one of the original woofers. If its around 6.5 ohms, it's a MW6500. If it's around 7.5 ohms, it's a MW6501.Home Theater/2 Channel:

i did not look for the label but i disconnected the speaker and it sits at 6.6 ohms. Is there a way to realign the speaker so it stops rubbing or would i be better off to buy a replacement. Are all mw6500 6.6 ohms? Am i ok to replace one driver with the mw6503?Post edited by bcbud3 on

The MW6503 will work fine, but you should replace them in pairs. One 6503 in each cabinet, in the opposite or mirror position. This will ensure both speakers sound the same. As I said previously, the 6500s do show up on eBay, and would be a perfect match. Just be sure the seller understands how fragile they are, and wraps them with lots of bubble wrap and padding.
The replacement drivers from Polk require trimming of the rubber surround. On the new drivers, the rubber overlaps the mounting holes, and can rip or tear when the mounting screws are tightened.
