Burn in/Demagnetizing discs? Thoughts!

I'm using an Atlas Cables burn in demagnetizing disc and curious if anyone else using something similar or have any thoughts on the process?

Here is some info on the one I am using.

Atlas Cables retailers is this Burn-in and Demagnetising Disc, designed to give your system a thorough work-out while also running-in new components.

The disc carries an 11-minute track of what sound like tones rising and falling in frequency, laid over a continuous noise - not exactly a relaxing listen, but apparently 'calculated mathematically to correspond to definite criteria for frequency content and rates of change of frequency and amplitude'.

Atlas says the idea is that you leave the disc on repeat for several hours to burn-in and demagnetise your system, and in particular cables: 'The choice of the signals on this CD is partly inspired by the tones from cast bells which, as with cables, undergo significant changes in their metallurgy or dynamic modulus over a period of time.

'It is the way which these perfectly symmetrical signals fade to zero that removes the magnetisation that builds up in components during the reproduction of music because of the asymmetric nature and sudden stops and starts of real music audio signals.'

I ran it for 2 hours on one set of cables and then overnight on another set. The disc is back in the box now. Really not sure what or if it did anything but what the heck eh.

nothing ventured nothing gain! It's what we do here, we try things to see if they make a difference like cables and Vibration pads etc.. I am currently Burning in some crossovers and wanting to get to 300 hours :)

Right on, I'm a firm believer in cables and picked up a nice used pr the other day. Figured I'd run them in with the disc and move the other pr to SACD duty so ran that one in again. Manufacture out of Scotland called Atlas Cables.

It's best to devote your ventures into things that have a good chance of producing a gain.
