I am itching to get a Parasound A23

To replace my Emo XPA-200 running my rears in my main 9.2 system. Would it be worthwhile? I can use it in a future config so it may not be a waste to get one.

For rear speakers? I wouldn't be too worried about it. Spend that money on a better turntable cartridge or look into a 2 channel preamp with HT bypass.

For rears.....I wouldn't. The Emo is perfect for that. Save the coin for something that will get you a bigger boost in SQ.

There's a used a23 locally for $400. It appears to be in good shape. Would this be a fair price?

I would run and get it while the getting is good.

  • Cream may not help if he is allergic to the Emotiva. Otherwise, I can not imagine much benefit. If you are still using the monitor series rears and surrounds (in you sig), I would look there to upgrade. A five channel LSiM HT would my preference over a 9 channel hodgepodge of LSiM's and monitors.
Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant

Currently I am using 2 x A23's in bridged mode to drive my LSIM 705 Fronts. The side benefit of this is that they sound great musically as well as perform well in HT. If it floats your boat...

I just wanted to move the Emo our of the high rent district. I more than agree with you regarding the LsiMs, now I just need to get 6 more so I can have 9 channels of LsiM sounds.
