LS 90 problem

My son said the speakers he has started to sound funny. So we went and pulled the grills to have a look. The piece, rubber?, that attaches to the metal is loose. Looks like the glue? that was used has failed. One is even separated from the cone I think. Looks like all of them are this way. So I guess I need to look for a speaker refoamer around here?

Same issue as this?
forum.polkaudio.com/discussion/159789/driver-for-ls90#latest
If so, the same issue starting happening to my LS90 drivers last year - surround adhesive failure. I expect them all to start failing, as the surrounds easily peel from the cones and frames on the drivers with this issue.5.1 and 2.0 ch Basement Media Room: Outlaw 975/Emotiva DC-1/Rotel RB-1582 MKII/Rotel RB-1552/Audiosource Amp 3/Polk LS90, CS400i, FX500i/Outlaw X-12, LFM-1/JVD DLA-HD250/Da-Lite 100" HCCV/Sony ES BDP/Sonos Connect. Yes. That pretty much is what is happening. I'll give Polk a call on Monday and see what they say.HT/2Channel: Emotiva MMC-1, Adcom GFA-555II, Polk SDA 3.1's, Teac TN-300 TT, Polk Center and Sub.

Happens to the best of them eventually . If you can't repair them, buy some used or new ones through Polk . Tell them you are a member and get a discount .

Weird, I've got 20 year old LS50's (purchaced new) and LS90's I got used with no signs of separation.

Both of mine failed (one last year and one recently) with playing music fairly loudly. The music I was playing during the recent failure had a lot of bass energy from double bass being played on the track. So, I think it's high bass energy that causes them to eventually fail. When I heard a mechanical buzz the second time, I knew instantly that a second one had failed.
On the failed drivers, the surround peels easily and cleanly away from the cone and basket. The adhesive remains bonded to the cone and frame, so it's the adhesive bond to the surround that's failing. Perhaps something from the rubber blooms over time to degrade the bond. I've only seen this type of failure on these LS90 drivers.5.1 and 2.0 ch Basement Media Room: Outlaw 975/Emotiva DC-1/Rotel RB-1582 MKII/Rotel RB-1552/Audiosource Amp 3/Polk LS90, CS400i, FX500i/Outlaw X-12, LFM-1/JVD DLA-HD250/Da-Lite 100" HCCV/Sony ES BDP/Sonos Connect. I had to replace one on my LS50's about 2 years ago and one on my LS90's a year ago. Both 50's and 90's use the same driver and I had bought some used ones before hand. took about 4 minutes to remove and instill the driver, E-Z ,P-Z.

I wanted to report back that I sent these in finally last month and had them rebuilt. Only charge was shipping to get them up there. Thanks Kim and Polk for standing behind your speakers. I reinstalled them and then hooked up the Parasound 1200ii I got on here to them and they sound great.
Kudos goes out to Mr. Stills!
Parasound in it's new home.
