Wife is laughing at me

Whenever my in-laws come over, it's wine and food out on the deck and the Sonos is put into overdrive. Anyway, my wife was amazed I knew the words to some songs, not great songs, but fun songs that my in-laws also knew.
It's a weird situation because my wife is 9 years younger than me and her mom is only 10 years older than me, so I kinda straddle the generations. The wife was laughing at me because I knew every word to Hot Rod Lincoln by Commander Cody.....as well as her parents.
Never having heard it before, she proclaimed it was the earliest version of Rap she'd ever heard. She may be right too. She likes Charlie Daniels too, so I say..."Have you ever heard Uneasy Rider" ? HUH...WHATS THAT ? I politely tell her Charlie sings more than the Devil went down to Georgia. A good ol' boy song, won't win an audiophile praise but fun to listen to.
Knew every word to that too. She's laughing at me. Whats so funny I ask. As she politely reminds me that I can't find the mail I brought in the house earlier that day but I knew every word to this 40 year old song.
I like that I straddle the generations, I can relate to either, and the wife laughs at me when I relate to her parents music....or maybe she's really cryin', I dunno.

Love that song! Nice story. I certainly don't see things my wife does. "Why didn't you
pick that up?" "Didn't see it." -

LOL....AMEN BRO.
That's what I love about getting older....your not responsible for jack sheet because you can't see sh$t or hear it. That does however bump you into another set of problems.
That's why most older folks move into a one story ranch with no stairs. Not because they can't climb anymore, but to take away that incentive from those who may have unscrupulous motives. You know I'm right, think about that. lolHT SYSTEM-

LOL! You are too funny Tony!
I've heard Hot Rod Lincoln, but I don't know all the words to it. But I have both Uneasy Rider & The Devil Went Down To GA on my mp3 players & phone.
They are the only two songs I have of that band.
Good music is good music. While most of my favorite music is from the 70's, I have everything from some 50's 60's 80's ect. Heck I even have a cd of Frank Sinatra's concert at Madison Sq. Garden The Main Event. I love the Doo Wop era of music be cause of the outstanding harmonies.

Funny story, Tony!
More power to you. I can't remember the full lyrics to ANY song. I always hear the music FIRST and am literally DEAF to the lyrics. It is only later, if the lyrics interest me at all that I may pay attention to them, even then I never bother to remember or memorize them probably because "memorization" is something that's part of my work. I remember thousands and thousands of things; dates, people, events, history, books, ideas, theories, philosophies, and so on, like a Liberal Arts Encyclopedia? The kind of stuff that almost never comes up here, lol
My mind is literally 'exhausted' most of the time. So when I listen to "music", I don't want to use anything but the right side of my brain (which, no doubt, is the superior side for me in any case-words, unless I am writing, thinking and creating are useless there).
I'm also NOT a sing-a-long kind of guy. Primarily because my father tried a career as a crooner in the late 40s early 50s (they say he had a voice that was a cross between Como and Crosby)-but he never got that BIG break? How does one compete with that? One refrains from ever singing, maybe?
But my wife loves to sing-a-long! lol
Sounds like you guys had some real fun!Currently orbiting Bowie's Blackstar.!

I grew up hearing C.W. McCall (aka Don Sears). My dad listened to it pretty often and I think he had almost every album, 8 track back then, he had. I found a CD years ago which was a greatest hits album. Funny how I knew almost every word to every song on it and I hadn't listened to that music in 20 years! All my kids love it, the wife hates it. So, ya, I sing along to it. Weird huh?
You aren't the only one who's wife laughs at you, mine has been doing it for years!Remember, when you're running from something, you're running to something...-me -

Exactly Cathy, spot on. Motown is a perfect example. Of course that's back when singers actually had talent, even the back up singers.
BTW, I did find the mail. It was in the linen closet between towels....don't ask.HT SYSTEM-

LMAO....I was expecting that from Ken, not you. Which btw if your going to go there, Victoria Secret sucks, hit up the Black and White store or Nordstrom.
Hey, I don't care if everyone else laughs at my mishaps. I'm by no means perfect, just ask my wife/family/friends/neighbors/kids....even the dog, she has a few gripes as well.HT SYSTEM-
