Benchmark DAC 1 pre feeler

So I'm going to be selling my benchmark DAC 1 pre. I have no idea what this thing is worth, I've been looking at eBay, and hi-fi shark and they seem to hold a bit of value. Benchmark is also offering 800$ credit towards upgrading to a DAC2. Reason for selling? I have a friend who is in need of some quick cash, and I will be buying his DAC 2 L off of him for an extremely good price.

Now the upgrade offer is only for us residents, can't take advantage of that up here in Canada. Also the volume pot on my benchmark sometimes sounds a bit scratchy. I have contacted benchmark, and this is a common issue of a dirty volume pot. They offer to replace the volume pot, upgrade the oscillator chip, and calibrate the unit back to factory specs... For only 50$. They also pay shipping one way. If anyone is interested let me know and we can work a price. The unit is absolutely mint otherwise. The volume thing hasn't bugged me and it seems to only happen rarely. Of course if you were using this as just a dac the volume wouldn't matter. I will post pics shortly.

    I have been running Benchmark DAC's since 2005; (DAC1, DAC/PRE) and will eventually get the DAC2 for its remote capabilites. I love them in preamp or line level mode. It synergizes perfectly with my warm-side-of-neutral Harbeth's.

    Definitely looking forward to the dac 2. I've heard it is a major leap over the dac1. Not sure I've even read a dac review that hasn't had the benchmark as a comparison. I pick up the dac 2 this weekend. So I will be more motivated to sell.

    Benchmark is offering a 800$ credit towards the dac 2. Only for american residents. Almost like you get 200$ free of you take advantage of this!

    Yes it does. when I called benchmark to inquire about the volume pot replacement they said they would still honor the trade up. But when they learned I was from Canada, thy said only for us residents.

    Would this be a leap forward over the Wyrd4sound Dac1?
    I only have experience with the DAC1 so far.
    If so I might consider it, just don't have the $$ at the moment, just finished buying some new gear..
