Sl 6508

I just picked up a CS245i that the seller said didn't work right. I opened it up and the back of the tweeter was stuck on one of the 5.25 drivers. I placed it where it belonged ( unless that's not possible by just using my hand). I hooked up the speaker and it sounded ok to me. Am I good to go or does the tweeter need to be replaced?

  • When I went to remove the tweeter, there was the silk dome attached to the face plate. The negative & positive leads from the xo were also connected to the back side of the face plate. The rest of the tweeter was stuck to the shield on one of the 5.25 drivers. I pulled it off the driver and tried to line it up properly with the back of the face plate. When it got too close the magnetic pull snapped the 2 pieces together. I moved it around a little and it felt like it slide into a round cut out on the back of the face plate. I put everything back together, hooked it up and all 3 drivers appear to be working. Does this make sense? Based on my limited experience I'm assuming something must be wrong with the tweeter, but it is producing sound and I don't hear anything that sounds abnormal.
