That's a tough one, indeed. When I was in high school, we almost got REO Speedwagon to play at the school early in their career, IIRC their fee was $1,500. Lol. It was shortly after Gary started with the band, probably 1971 I'm thinking. The school administration put the clamps on the idea before the contract was signed, as they were afraid the event would draw "undesirable outsiders" to the dance. I really liked their early stuff, got a review copy of their first album from the record company. That first album rocked, Gary's guitar work was strong strong. Anti-establishment Man, Sophisticated Lady, 157 Riverside Avenue, etc. Terry Lutrell's vocals were also awesome. RIP.

^^ agree - never the same ^^ saw them on High Infidelity - at the time I played in a high school (local dances, etc) band. What a guitar player. Reminded me of Neal Schon in many ways.

So correct. Awesome shredders usually only get appreciated and noticed by guitarists. I saw Satriani sitting in one night on a late night talk show band and he barely got noticed,sad...

I think that's the ultimate compliment. I remember an interview with Tony Banks (of Genesis) talking about the music of Brian Wilson (of the Beach Boys), in which Tony said "Brian's music sounds simple....until you try to play it."

Brian Wilson is a musical genius , and he's still__ in the music business after all__ these years.
