I've read a few discussions about good DVD players and need some help. I need to upgrade my old Sony to something much better. It seems that you guys like the Denon 2200/2900. Can someone name a few in the $300 range (new or used) that really perform well. Thank you.

As far as specific models, it really depends on what you want. Do you want DVI output? Do you want a universal player? Do you want a multi-disc player? do you want better video or better audio? Lots of variables to consider!!!!

Denon 910. Kicked butt in the Secrets benchmarks.

Go to hometheaterhifi.com and look for the DVD player benchmarks list. Its a huge list, they check all the dvd players for alternating flag problems, both chroma problems, layer change times, etc. I like their technical approach to testing. They don't get all artsy fartsy, they just tell you what works and what doesn't.
