amplifiers

I have a question about amplifiers. I've been shopping for separates and it looks like I may have come up with a solution. My question is this: Can I run (3) two-channel amps on a 5.1 setup and just not use one of the channels? If so, will it hurt the amp that I'm not using the channel on and how will it hurt it? I am planning on moving to 6.1 in the future, so I'll need the other channel soon.
What do you guys think of these separates? This is what I may have found. (1) Adcom 555 for the fronts, (2) Adcom 545 for the centers and surrounds, and an Adcom GTP-750 for the pre-pro. That should give me a lot of flexabilityand plenty of power, right?
Thanks for the help.

Yes, that would work, it wont hurt the amp to only be running one channel.Graham
