I am thinking about purchasing a pair of sda crc's for a living room that is 18 x 26 . I would like to install them along the narrow side, with 6 ft between them leaving approx 5 ft from the side walls. Would the CRC be a good fit for this room? Right now i am running monitor 10b's along the same wall and they sound pretty good, but I would like to get the sda effect. Any thoughts from CRC owners past and present?

I think the CRS+'s would be great. Get some decent stands & some good power to them & with the cord that goes from 1 to the other..... With a room that size you could go a tad bit bigger if you choose. Sda 1c's or 2b's would also work. I think the CRS+ would be a step up from the 10's..... I have the CRS+'s & i njoy them

that would work, I hear its best to be at least 3-4ft from side wall and if they are 6 ft apart then you sit 6 ft away (triangle), my CRS+'s are under going a upgrade.
    I also have some Monitor 10's :)

    They are CRS, not CRC.

Got a CRS pair as well. I am still pondering about what to do with them. I will leave the SL2000 in and I'll replace the resistors and polyswitches with mills, but not sure about the caps, they're too many... :# It's going to get pricey.

Forgot to mention, I have fresh recapped monitor 5 b hooked up with a marantz 2270 in my main listening area, I really love it and I don't see me breaking it apart...

The CRS main end up connected to my tv, just need to find a decent "oldish" amp or receiver for it.

^^^^ thats what ive done. The CRS+'s hooked to Yamaha CR 2040. The only thing ive done is switchout the tweeters w/194's & i enjoy them alot. Once in awhlle i turn on the tv. But mostly music on easy listening
    ..
  • Oops .............CRS ( not CRC ), my apologies.

It appears that the interconnect cable is not included. I don't think the seller was aware that it needed one. So I will need to make one up, which leads me to a question; where does one find the 'male" connector for the cable, or does one just "rig" something together?

CR2040 is a fine receiver, I should sound pretty good with those speakers.

I have read in some topics that people replace existing connectors with neutrik speakon connectors....

    I think this is it!

  • well I just found some connectors on Parts Express that appear to be a good replacement http://www.parts-express.com/neutrik-nl2mp-speakon-connector-2-pole-panel-mount--092-059
  • Cortico.....................it appears that great minds think alike

Get the 4 pole Neutrik SpeakOn connectors even though you will only use 2 poles. They are built and spec better.

  • Yes the bases you showed and the cord connectors are very cheap @ Parts Express. I think I paid just as much in shipping than the 4 pieces to make the thing. Also use good or the same speaker wire you are using now for the interconnect and leave some slack for cleaning, moving and what ever else. A very easy mechanical mod to do.

I listened to the CRS yesterday for the first time, all stock, only to tweeters connected. The room placement couldt not be the best, but It sound pretty amazing, wider and deeper soundstage with great stereo effect...

I connected my CRS+ (since modded) to my living room rig next to my 2.3TL's. They sounded pretty good, but the room was just too big for them. Not nearly the image weight, depth and width. They sound very good in the smaller room I use them in now.

  • I received the CRS's and even though the packing was very good, one of the drivers ended up being frozen. So, I popped out a Mw6503 from my Monitor 10's and replaced it. One of the 4 tweeters was missing the actual magnet structure, so I switched it around to the "main" position, and then disconnected the tweeter on the opposite channel to maintain balance between both channels. I had difficulties getting the SDA circut to work correctly. I was somehow loseing ground on one of the channels. I did a "quick and dirty" repair by buying some spade terminals to attach the speaker wire to those miniature speaker terminals. Now I am very happy. They are quite different from the Monitor 10's. And they sound better than the SDA 2A I purchased several months ago ( that is another long story ). They lack the low end bass, and to avoid any distortion I have selected the low end filter on my amp ( 40hz ), but otherwise the clarity and accuracy is very good. I can now pick out instruments and voices that before were muddled. The only down side is one becomes more "picky" about what music to listen to. Any flaws in the recording process will now stand out.
