So once again I am surfing the 'net and getting my self in trouble by finding audio gear I don't need on special sale.

I currently have S3 speaker cables an S2 and S3 interconnect. Thinking of going all S1. Quite an investment and I'm not sure if the extra money spent over the S2 and S3 is really worth it.

Has anyone gone up the MIT ladder this way and noticed a big difference? I know there will some differences, but is it enough to pony up the $$$. I am a lifetime MIT user.

Any comments appreciated. Really on the fence here as I told myself after buying the EE Mini Max Dac Plus I was done upgrading for awhile.

But all kidding aside, with all the sales going on with MIT, I almost pulled the trigger about 8 times in the last 2 weeks. It's a hard call. I am sure after they are burned in for a couple of weeks, you will hear a difference but, is it worth the $$$$ difference? That will be the hard part. Only 1 way to find out!!!!

Yes, I am an addict lately! LOL.

I could see upgrading to the Sx.3 series or MA, etc, but I just don't know if there is enough difference between S1,2,3 series to warrant the expense.

I just can't quite hit the "checkout" button!

I have the 8' S1 set on the way - Just over $500 with shipping... Very anxious to hear them.

  • I popped on an 8' pair of Shotgun S1Speaker wires and 3 pair of Shotgun S1 i/c's over the past two years, bought them from J. Abrams at a higher cost than what MIT is offering now, but still at a good discount.

Absolutely NO regrets, the last set of wires I should ever need, any offerings that better the S1's really starts to hit "Diminishing Returns" on the investment.

    I say, go for it!

You don't have to sell me on MIT cables, I've used them for a long time. I was hoping people that had compared the 3 types might chime in as to whether the investment was worth it, or maybe shoot a little higher up to the next tier of products.

I have had S2 and now S1 speakers cables as well as S3, S2, and S1 ICs. Not a big difference, subtle but there. I'm in the same boat wondering if the S2 IC between my pre and amp is degrading the performance of my S1 speaker cables and S1 IC between my DAC and pre. Today, I do not think it is worth upgrading the remaining S2 IC to S1 IC, but then I also wonder if the S2 IC is throttling the goodness of the S1 speaker cables. Dilema, dilema, what to do....I hope the S1 ICs sell out quickly so I don't have to think about this more. :)

Not a huge difference in noticeable performance between the S1 to S3, and they can be used together without problems. The bass articulation is improved slightly between the S1, S2, and S3 according to MIT documentation but no differences in normal hearing range above 64Hz for the speaker cables. I would not recommend using MIT speaker or interconnect cables With cables from other manufacturers as MIT cables work best together.

I have the S3 and S1 speaker cables and the rest of my system is S3, I would say the biggest difference between the speaker cables is in the bass response..

I to have wanted to run full S1's in my system as I believe it would be better to run the full line as a posed to bits and pieces...

I'm just running the full line of S3's these days as I picked up a set of bi-wire S3's a few weeks ago..

I say if your going to do it do S1's throughout the whole system...

Agreed, the main difference is the S1 bass, which IMO is worth the money to upgrade.
