    Just my opinion.

I am a fan of BW. So when I heard the venere next to the bowers of similar price, it was a no contest especially in an a/b switch.

    More open sounding.

    And I own both brands.

I suggest giving BW cm9 a fair shake.

Definitely will! A used pair of venere has pooped up on Canuck audio mart. Problem is most people aren't into shipping or don't have original boxes anymore. We have very little available to us up here, so trying to work with what's available. Those B&W look sweet. I would love to have access to them.

Those speakers look like they sound bright. I don't know why I get that impression, probably because all the drivers look like metal.

My friend is selling his CM10 series 2 speakers in rosenut. He is moving up to Focal 1038BE.

His price will be right at your budget.

I have heard CM10 and they are good, very good.

If you want info, audition something like them and get back to me.

Yes, the CM and the Diamonds have a very good off axis response. If you are into not having to listen directly in the sweet spot (family room, kitchen nearby, etc)... that's my preference. Even the SF Strads dont approach the off axis beauty of the Diamonds.

Better off axis performance is one of the qualities I'm looking for. These speakers will be in a living room, that opens into a kitchen, hallway, and main entrance way. With the polks you need to be in the sweet spot for this. Also given the size I need something capable of going loud, I'm really impressed that the lsi can gobble up the power and loud volume levels I give them when having people over. I've also come home to the girl friend blasting the volume pretty loud. And Joey please keep in mind out crappy exchange rate and shipping.

    How much $$$$?

I think it is $12500 for new if standard finish? I think that's retail...

But if you get a satin finish black, then it's like $3,000 off. So I think my friend paid around 9K with tax, local new dealer.

they had the 1028 for 5200$ down from 7000$ focal is having a massive manufacturer sale, the sale rep said they are changing the manufacturer that does the wood grain finishes. So they are blowing out current models. The extra premium for the gloss black is crazy. Was like 500$ on top of the arias 900 series.

I said I was going to keep the lsi, I put them up for sale as a feeler, I have a guy coming to check them out on the weekend, and I have some Nordost red dawns kicking around and some other misc cables. Going to see if I can increase my budget. I fell in love with those electras, I might try to get the 1028. I'm going to hold tight for a week or so, there's a demo pair I might be able to scoop up!

I think you will LOVE the move to Focal speakers.

A lot of what you have said yo want from new speakers, I think Focal hits. More detailed top end, without being bright. Clearly defined and fast bass. Great imaging...

I'm in their entry stuff and I LOVE them. In a way I really, really want to get my ears on their higher end stuff, but I also really don't want to open that can of worms.

I need my kids to get out of daycare so that I can start to expand my audio budget!

Oh man... Even the aria with new drivers and tweeters were fantastic. The sound stage was wide and open. At one point I had to check to see if the speakers were even playing, it sounded as though the music was 10 feet behind the speakers. Insane! After listening to the electras, my system was very disappointing lol!

    What focals are you using?

It's seriously painful... Not only do we pay for full-time daycare for our two kids, but my four year old is also in pre-school three days a week...

Ohh, don't forget that we now have to pay for someone to come and pick her up from daycare and drop her off at pre-school!

Looking at the checks laying on the kitchen table this past week:

Ohh, there is enough to buy my Marantz SR7009 that I want...
Ohh, that one could almost pay for the Oppo BDP-105 that I want...
Ohh, that one could buy several albums that I want...

    These kids better become surgeons.

    Surgeons?

I want my kid to become a hedge fund manager.

    Or a rocket scientist.

    Lol

Its worth the investment though. I sometimes look at cousins with a wealth of material possessions and get a little frustrated. Then I look at my children, of which they have none, and it all melts away. It'd be nice to be able to do both, but not realistic on average wages.

    Agreed bud

    Lol.

    You're already a Dr.

Gotta keep in mind Joey, Surgeon is a couple of steps up the financial ladder from where my kids are starting!

Don't want to pressure them too much! Lol

Edit: Besides, I know a few rocket scientist. Some of them make less than me!

Stick to the Hedge Fund Manager...

I'd sell all my gear and never look back if I had to for my kids. But I too, see deals everywhere and think ohh ...but wait. Daycare and before and afterschool care. I will one day upgrade my speakers and my TV. Gotta go .... need to write a cheque for soccer and dance.
