I have a bunch of them, mostly purchased for one or two songs from each. Sound quality can be hit or miss, and song selection often isn't comprehensive because the CDs are limited to 10-12 tracks. Certainly worth $4 to $5 to me, and there is a very wide range of them including many forgotten bands. Most of mine I've picked up in Target or WalMart over the years. Amazon has a great selection of them available.

They were also very inexpensive when new; we have a smattering of them* -- they were (are) a good way to pick up artists who are of peripheral interest to one. For example, we have Mamas & the Papas and Three Dog Night. Sound quality was pretty decent in light of the highly variable source material (e.g., the Three Dog Night tracks mostly sound pretty darned good). We have a couple of others, not that I can remember any at the moment, though :-P

    * mostly picked up out of closeout bins for ca. three to five smackers a pop.
