Carver Amazes me Again

So i bought a new Pioneer vsx521k & listened to it for a month or so discouraged hooked to the Paradigms Monitor 7's. Just ok on 2/1 on tv or movies. Svcked on music bad. Wasnt sure if it was the speakers or the receiver. So i threw the Carver 150wpc on it. Speakers hooked to A & Polk mini rm6750 (i think) on B. Hooked it up some last night. Wife texted me at 12:30am & said get yer a$$ in here LOL. 
Turned it on today after finishing it up & OUTSTANDING to say the least
i am WICKED happy. Listened to some Shooting Star & blown away. Woke the Paradigms up..... I was able to rotate the KLH 23's onto the tube amp-which i had NOT heard on tubes yet since refurbishing them. Pure bliss. Gonna be a fine weekend

Nice! Often more clean power does wonders for improvement in SQ. I've always been partial to the appearance of that generation of Carvers. The klh's sound great. I still havent applied the glue/gue to the surrounds. Ive had the solvent for 3-4weeks & havent got to it yet (lazy). The bass seems very good. So it may improve after. Im not much into major bass & it seems perfect now. I tend to listen to musical instruments with the budget tube amp. So far i got 10+ hours on the klh's with solid state & 3 on the yaqin. Impressive speakers for their age..

Ive only heard 4-5 Carver systems & they were very nice. This one supposedly isnt well regarded. I guess its a later model. It has to be the most powerful receiver i have owned & it sounds good to my ears. Why are you so surprised Boston? You have been here long enough to know that a good high powered amp will wake any speaker up to operate to their full potential.

Your right Cathy. I did away with the big receiver n amp HT because the wife didnt care for rear speakers in her ears. I miss a decent HT. i will slap myself now ..

You have to claim your real estate when it comes to HT. I have the rears discretely placed, but I've never moved from 5.1 to 7.1 or .2 because I do believe the wife will balk at Rear Surrounds! So I'm waiting till we move, then I'll move that up. Actually have the extra Polks in storage! lol
What model Carver is that? I've very little experience with Carvers, a love them or hate them on this site. Certainly have great respect for Bob, and I am a fan of the BIG Amazings, they do symphonic halls as good as anything I've heard
On another note, I'm getting ready to cut the cord with TWarner and go Chromecast and PS3 for TV. Five minutes more in their office and I probably would have been thrown out as we got into an almost shouting match over fees and equipment rentals and extra charges, I basically called the representative a "liar" and she would not back down from her lies. Reminded me of certain political candidates that never waver from their rhetoric. It was OBVIOUS that TW trains these people to constantly repeat a standard set of phrases and NEVER waver from the program. Guess what, they're about to lose almost $1500 a year. And I KNOW I'm not alone. Great Business Model over there! Keep up the great work as one of the most "despised" cable companies in the U.S.!Currently orbiting Bowie's Blackstar.!

Cnh. Its the Carver AVR-100 150wpc. Im liking it. I just ordered a Harmony remote which i cant wait.You saw i had a small living room in the Lisbon house & Carla didnt care for rears. I think when the new house gets done ii will have a much bigger living room where the rears will be further away from her & she may like that better im hoping. Or i will set one up in basement HT room..
