Dared SL2000A - Quick question

I'm wanting to know if I could use a subwoofer with this preamp. I currently have a Micropro 3000 with the Mozarts for HT but was debating moving it to my 2- channel but don't see a way of hooking it up.

There are two outputs on the Dared but looks to be a 1:1 in relation to the inputs. Are there any other options on adding it?
Setup:

2 Channel: Vienna Acoustics Mozart Grand, T+A P 1230R, Primare SPA21, Oppo BDP-105
PC: Vienna Acoustics Haydn Grand, Cambridge Azure 650A v2 , Peachtree iDAC, Denon DVD-3800BDCI

If the sub has speaker input/output then yes feed speaker cables from amp to sub then out from sub to speakers.

If you are asking about running it directly from the pre-amp, no. In fact only HT pre's and AVR's have bass management.

As pitdogg2 says, you can run them at the speaker level from an amp, but the sub needs speaker level inputs (ie; speaker terminals) and then that is fairly rudimentary as you wouldn't have any bass management outside of what is built into the sub.

  • Thanks guys definitely learned something new. It has 2 speaker terminal inputs. So I would run run one set of speaker wires from AMP to Terminal 1 and then another set from Terminal 2 to Speakers? For bass management is it beyond setting the low pass because it does have that built in also?

I probably won't do it since I'll have to invest in more cables. But it's definitely good to know.

I am confused here..... if the powered sub has line level inputs, then the pre outs on the Dared would work,
Is the issue giving up bass management to the sub?

I had Paul's "Dared" for awhile and with 2 sets of outputs I just ran one to my amp and the other to my sub, works just fine!

Yeah, my bad. I haven't used a sub in years. So, yes if the sub has line level inputs you should be able to use any pre-amp that has more than one output. I guess I was thinking about the bass management thing.

The Dared does have two preouts and 2 inputs. Input 1 corresponds to Output 1 and Input 2 for Output 2. I was thinking the same at first but I moved my red RCA from output 1 to the red of Output 2 and kept the other channel on Output 1. If they were dual I would expect to still have sound from both speakers but I did not. Unless that's not a valid test.

  • Just read Volt's comment I'll give it a try with the sub. The Haydn's would benefit more from the sub then the Mozarts so do want to swap it if it works.

Sorry it was my mistake. I've made a lot of changes recently and my AQ Sidewinders have always been going to my AMP but they aren't anymore. When I moved them it was actually the input and not the output. I hooked everything up and looks like I'm set.
