I'm looking at the Rogue Medusa amplifier to replace an Adcom 5802. Does anyone have any experince with Rogue?

Thanks,

Had the following Rogue Audio equipment:
Stereo 90 amp, 88 Magnum amp
99 Super magnum pre, and metis pre.

IMHO, Rogue makes excellent, quality tube equipment. Their tube equipment are quality builds. Suprisingly tight and fast for a tube amp, with just the right addition of warmth to the mix.. I have driven both Lsi7 and 9's, Lsim 705 and SDA 1c
    was a great combo

    Main Rig:
    Antipodes DX > Roon > PS Audio Directstream Jr.>deHavilland Ultraverve 3 >Belles Reference 150a >Harbeth C7 ES3

    Second Rig:
Roon> PS Audio Directstream Jr Bridge II > EE Minimax pre (Tutay mods) >Belles 150A Ref >Monitor 5 (Westmassguy-modded)

After listening to some of their top stuff I was left with a good impression of the company. Would love to build a system with their more affordable gear, That hybrid Class D/tube Medusa is a very cool product.

However, the $4k price is right in line with many other options. Could try a cheaper more powerful nCore/ Hypex based class D amp like the NAD M22 (or others or DIY). Then uses the $1K+ savings towards a tube preamp.

Could go the other direction with a hybrid tube/SS amp like the Vincent SP-331MK for $1500 less.

For $4K, could go Bi-Amp with a Halo A21 on the low end with a affordable tube amp ( Shuguang, Jolida, Grant Fidelity, etc) on the high end.

For $3400 Could go with a couple of affordable class A/B monoblocks, Odyssey Stratos Mono Extreme.

Could go used....something like a McCormack DNA-225 for about $2K.

These are just a few of the hundreds of options in the $4K price range. As cool as Rogue is, it would be hard not to consider and listen to at least a few others before settling in. The ears will tell you what to do.....

  • I've had Rogue gear in the mix for several years now, currently have a Cronus Magnum Integrated and Ares phono pre.

Just ordered a pair of M-180 Monoblocks and a Perseus preamp...I enjoy the Rogue sound, while I can't comment on their line of Hybrid amps, I would recommend their equipment without hesitation based on their build quality and service alone.

Plz start a new thread with your impressions . . .
I forgot to mention CS, they're always helpful, never in a hurry to get off the phone . . . Top notch, IMHO

    Thanks,

Never owned one, but heard a few. Very nice sound and a big step up from the Adcoms....imho anyway. As others have said too, CS is a strong suit of theirs aside from good sound quality. I see no reason why pairing it up with LSI's wouldn't work, especially with the amount of tube rolling you can do to tailor the sound.
