I saw this last week knowing little about it beforehand. I'm a big Meryl Streep fan and usually enjoy her performances even if the movie is less than stellar.
The movie blew me away. She was, as usual, totally believable as Rikki. Her performances with the band were so realistic it seemed as though she was that character. She was a great front person who learned the guitar for this movie!
After the first 30 minutes I wondered if the movie would turn formulaic with alot of Kumbaya scenes where everyone is forgiven, blah blah blah. It only got better.
Rick Springfield was quite good as was the rest of the band (Joe Vitale - drums; Bernie Worrell - keys, Rick Rosas - bass). Highly recommended.
