A Pink Floyd fans must have Recording ( That's not Pink Floyd )

Yeah sure Gilmour is on it but this sounds absolutely fantastic on a pair of SDA's or a pair of your favorite headphones. Think of Floyd going Techno with Gilmours guitar all over the place, I hear parts of Wish You Were Here, Meddle, DSOTM, Obscured By Clouds, More, all of the good old Floyd before Roger got all into himself and booted Richard Wright out and slowly dismantled a great band.

Don't get me wrong love Roger, in Floyd and his solo ventures, but this reminds me of the old Floyd I loved before The Wall and The Final Cut, part of this sounds like a Techno version of Mudmen a extended version so to speak, and the Bass is present for sure. If you Floyd Fans got to have it all like me then your collection is not complete without this check it out.

Good idea. Thanks for the tip off!
I just upgraded 'Meddle' to the 1987 version of the CD.
I think it sounds better than the 1994 version. (but still not the one of get I understand)
Used to have the textured import on vinyl...
  • Thank you for the suggestion.

I just listened to the Division Bell 5.1 for the first time today. I think it is sublime!

I have to say, I was less than impressed overall with this Orb venture David did. And I am a huge fan of both his playing on it's own - as well as Floyd both classic and post Roger. I was also left wanting more with the release of The Endless River, and I have yet to get the feeling that is (was?) in any way related to the Division Bell recordings. It just feels too different to my ears. Not bad, but I find it surprising how much more I enjoy listening to Division Bell - even today.

Now, I did enjoy most of Gilmour's On An Island (except perhaps for the ****-y sax song in the middle...) ;), and I am interested to hear what he's put together for Rattle That Lock. But all of that is, of course, entirely different to what Alex Paterson and David did for the Metallic Spheres recording. *shrug*

I will check it out, thanks.

Just to add, if anyone doesn't have Delicate Sound of Thunder I would highly recommend this in either vinyl or CD. This is great on SDA and once cued up you just lose yourself in the stage. I personally think DSOT has the best version of "Sorrow".

Do you find that you like it more than the PULSE recording? The PULSE DVD release included a 640Kb/s mix if memory serves. Don't recall if DSOT had the better format as well though. I know the CDs of each have strikingly different mixes in terms of their tonal qualities at any rate.

Agree! This CD is phenominal on a pair of SDA's! Great album too. Definately recommended!

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....
