Why do "discussions" end up in my inbox?

Why do discussions end up in my inbox? Wasn't the inbox for PM's only?

    Hey Steve do you mean notifications or inbox? The globe icon under your user name is notifications, and it (sometimes) lists both new messages and new responses to discussion threads you have started or are participating in. I have never seen discussions in my inbox, however.

    My "notifications" is empty--it's my Inbox that has a bunch of messages in it, some as old as 2011...??

    I figured out how to delete them, but I don't understand how ALL of my old PM's that had been deleted years ago are now all back in my inbox??

    That's weird man, I only have messages since Vanilla came on the scene. You must have a glitch!!

    I got them all deleted. You have to delete each discussion, 1 by 1; no way to select everything and delete that I can see. What PITA.

    Steve, I must have 20 pages worth of PM's in my "Inbox" and some of them are as old as April 2005. They appear to be nothing more than my responses to PM's, so there really should be about 40 pages of them.
