If i was to get a older receiver W/O powered sub out - would i be able to connect speakers r&l to speaker A. And then use wire-to-subwoofer on speaker B ? Would that work ? Im not much of a subwoofer person but for tv/movies/music my Pioneer sxv521@80wpc low budget receiver isnt doing it for me when it comes to music listening & its just ok on movies. I will continue 2/1 Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks in advance

Get a sub with speaker level inputs, use the crossover on the sub, set them to large in the receiver.HT SYSTEM-

The sub has speaker wire connects.. The receiver does not have sub out..

The receiver does have preout/main to add amp. Its a old Carver 150wpc..

I realize i could run speaker wire to sub & then to speakers. But id like to continue to use my cables/banana..

I was thinking that if i hooked it speaker wire 'from speakers B' to the powered subwoofer r&l speaker wire hook-up. Would that work ? Then i can use my banana plug cables from speaker A for the r&l speakers.. I can then use A&B on at same time to get 2/1..... I will admit im alittle thick understanding. So im asking for a understanding. Thank you

The high/speaker level input are the speaker terminals on the sub woofer. Normal you run a set of speaker cables from amp/receiver to Sub then another set from sub to the speakers,
I don't know if you can use the a/b way to do it or not. but if you did you would not be able to use the crossover on the settings on the sub to control the other.
My SVS sub does not have any speakers terminals, I know REL subs prefer you set it up with speaker level.

Yes. I could do that & i have done that with great results. Its messy with all those wires & i think my cables look neater & easier..... I wasnt sure if you ran just speaker wire from B speaker on receiver to sub if that would work. I can try it & see. Just didnt want to hurt receiver or sub. Thanks..

Like the saying goes. Cables matter. Ive been upgrading over time on each system. MIT's i got from here i also got some nice Canara from BJC & i got some cheesy ArrowReds that work ok for cheap from Yaqin tube amp/cd dealer. Over time i want to upgrade as the systems i got are done. Now time for Xovers & better cables. Ive been concentrating on the amps/receivers & speaker tweeters/rings/hurricane nuts/sealing cabinets & refinishing cabinets & now those are all paid for i can move forward. Been a fun journey..

You can A/B the speakers and Sub, I've done that successfully. You need to watch the load and know the 3db low end for your speakers in order to set the crossover on the Sub. Although not the most optimal way to run a Sub in a system, it will work. Of course you will not have full two channel power for the speakers.Currently orbiting Bowie's Blackstar.!

Thanks Cnh. It is just a mini Polk RM sub & it doesnt need to shake the house. I know the Carver will do a better job on the Paradigms than the Pioneer especially on music listening which i do 80% more of. Tv i usually watch History - Animal Planet - A&E - Spike & Sport channels & maybe 1-2 movies a month & a BOAT LOAD of music video's i own or get from Netflix. Wife watches '?ay's of our lives' soap opera & other shows. So its way more music listening on the system & i will try it our asap. I may not even need the sub & only turn it on if i put a DVD movie in the brp/dvd player..

Your speakers alone may be better at the lower bass than that RM sub. Just be careful not to overdrive that little guy.HT SYSTEM-

Agree. The speakers surprisingly do have enough bass. I keep the sub at 9-10 area & probably lower if i use the Carver..
