Okay kids, here's the stunning debut of your new LSi's. My synopsis is that the new finish rocks and looks like you would find it on much more expensive speakers.

As far as performance, all of the drivers are purported to be the same, but out of the box, these new speakers seem more laid back than our other LSi speakers (in a good way), more midrange, and have bass that was holding its own against the LSi25's. I really like them.

One other cosmetic note that you can't see from the pictures...with the new painted gloss finish the edges of the speakers are now slightly rounded off instead of a hard straight edge.

Those look very very nice Fireshoes. Thanks for sharing the pictures with us. Did the price go up any?

Yeah, I like the smoother wood look too.

Nope, same prices. Thank you, new overseas manufacturing facility! The new wood panels are very smooth, versus the texture on the old. The base of the speaker is also glossy now.

great pics, fireshoes! is the sound differences significant on the 15? would you be able to do a direct comparison between the new one and yours? The cherry finish is definitely an improvement, it looks like more reddish compared to the old 15.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

We sold our last pair of the old LSi15's last week so I couldn't do a direct comparison. My take was based against LSi9's and 25's only. The new ones are going to be played pretty much nonstop for a few weeks I would guess, and then I'll give further reports. Certainly none of them sounded bad. ;)

nice pics. love the new wood veneer.

Is the new cherry color similar to the older Lsi's? It just seems a bit orange......though I'm guessing it's probably the camera effect?

The new cherry is really nothing like the old. I think the pic with the 15's and 9's shows the difference pretty well (4th picture, sorry about the crazy angle). Monitor colors are going to vary a little bit, but it looks fairly accurate on mine. Maybe needs a little more red hue, I dunno.

Thanks for sharing the pics with us. The new finish is damn sexy. Do you know if Polk upgraded the x-over or any internal components?

My buyer says it was purely cosmetic. I was pretty busy at work today so I didn't really get to listen anymore, but I'll make time for it tomorrow.

    JUST CURIOUS :o

    BUT......

Does your store KNOW, that they are using inwall speaker wire for their wire job? (atleast it looks like that) You can get that mess for like 5 cents a foot at Home Depot.....come on now.......I run better wire than that!

BTW - the new finish looks awesome! Nice job!

This wire thing ;) is just to make sure the "Amp" see a 8 ohm load from an 4 ohm speaker (4 ohms added in the cheapo wiring :D)

On the Lsi15 it looks like they actually used a solid piece of wood for the side piece, unless they just folded the veneer over on the top.

It's actually the same wire to everything. lol
Sid got it right. It is in-wall wire, but it is actually ran in the wall too.

Nice sneak peek there FS, thanks. Interesting that you were noting some improved sound

What Stu was saying at TX PF2 was that the changes were cosmetic only, but that the veneering capapbility of the new facility was waaaay beyond the Mexico factory. Could be they are doing some better bracing/ gluing as well.

Or could simply be that the eye is influencing the ear a bit...
