I'm thinking I may be more cut out for a htib with all of the troubles I'm having. I buy the Aerosmith SACD today and come home to listen. When I try to play it it only comes out 2 channel and the display on the 2900 shows only the L and R speaker signals are being output. No problem, go into the 2900's audio menu to change to multi-channel but it's already set. WTF Audio and SACD settings are on multi-channel but no output as shown on the screen for the center, surrounds, and sub. Now what? I'm hoping this is an easy one. I swapped another disc in that worked fine on SACD yesterday and it does the same thing. L and R only.

    Kelley,

The "Hits" and "Just Push Play" SACD's are stereo only, if that helps. Other than that maybe the Denon realizes that music sounds better in 2 channel. ;)

Danger, I've got the ref 50 all set up. The 2900 has a speaker section on the display which shows you what channels are being outputed. Yesterday for SACD all of the channels were lit. Today only L and R like it's in stereo mode. Don't know how though as I have everything I can find set to multi-channel.

    that's weird dude..

when you play a SACD does it automatically default to 2 ch audio? some discs might do that. not sure.

    you got me stumped.

F1 you hit it right on. I grabbed the wrong Pink Floyd disc when I was troubleshooting or I should've caught that earlier. How do they expect a stupid sob like myself to know when it says SACD it may be only 2 channel? I see the SACD logo on the disc. I also see a stereo logo. I guess that's the secret? That Aerosmith disc has a lot of great songs though.

I guess the real accomplishment right now would be to delete this post before it's all over the news! Still planning a trip down to New Hampshire to Tweeter where I bought the Ref 50 from. I'm going to get written instructions on programming this for my setup. Thanks for the help. **** night averted!
