Am I being scammed?

I've been stressed out all week. I made a deal with a guy on cannuck audio mart this week. I don't want to say for what but seemed like a great deal. We haggled a bit, came to a deal on Tuesday and I immediately sent payment via pay pal. He responds, thanks for the payment mike. I send him a message back, when will you be shipping? He says when it clears. I dam well know since he's accepted it to his pay pal account that it's already been cleared. He says I'm waiting for it to be deposited from my pay pal account to my bank account then I will ship.... As far as I'm concerned this is b.s. I'm very familiar with pay pal. I've done dozens of transactions, buying and selling via pay pal. I always ship once the funds are in my pay pal account. This was Tuesday. For me the funds take no more than 2 business days to be transferred to my bank account. This member does have 5 positive feedbacks. But for a deal that's 450 bucks I am feeling very uneasy.

Any word on the transfer yet? I have to be honest this transaction has left me with an uneasy feeling. I have done dozens of pay pal transactions, Buying and selling. This is the first time in years with this hobby someone has asked me to wait for the funds to be transferred to their bank account. I have bought and sold on several forums eBay and CAM, I am very familiar with pay pal. Once you hit accept and its in your pay pal account it's yours. I don't mean any disrespect. But I ship immediately upon accepting it to my pay pal account. And the transfer to my bank is usually no more than 2 business days. You have to under stand it's 450 dollars not a small chunk of change. Again, I don't mean to offend, let me know.

I certainly don't understand all the workings of PayPal, although it's never happened to me when paying for something, I've received payments before as an "E Check" that is similar to a personal check that has to "clear the bank" before it can be deposited into your account.
This usually takes 5-6 business days...My guess would be this has happened to your payment. -

Regardless, its poor practice. The money is not critical to shipping costs. If he doesn't have a bank account connected to paypal, this could be a one and done deal. I would've given him 24 hours from receipt of payment to ship the product if he gave me a response like that.

I would be a little nervous also, getting the money back( through the CC Co.) shouldn't be a problem, just a huge PITA.

Not sure how long this has been the case but PayPal, at its sole discretion, now places a hold of up to 21 days on funds that are sent to a user of PayPal who does not have much of a recent selling history. Or they may do that for any reason they can think of. That may be what's going on with the transfer of funds.
Worth a call to PayPal to see what they say. Make them earn their 2.9% + $0.30 a transaction! -
And people wonder why I prefer face to face sales when possible...nothing to go wrong on either the sellers end or the buyers. Things tend to go smoothly. Like when I popped into what SHOULD be Alberta's Capital city to grab me a sweet lil BDP
Face to face is not always possible. But I try my best to do the same. I've had nothing but great luck so far....

Called pay pal. He says call my credit card company, and ask for a charge back transaction. The gentleman was very helpful. he said its very easy for us to get your money back, we will work with your credit card company if you don't receive your item in the next few days, so don't worry. That's a serious relief off the shoulders! I would rather receive the item though? Next question? Negative feedback?!

21 days or not that isn't the agreement. What goes on between seller and PayPal should have no effect on the buyer. Seller accepted payment in a form as agreed upon and it is his duty to ship the item within a reasonable time frame. Holding it up because of a transfer of his own funds is not a legitimate excuse.
Man I'm on board with you a 100% on this one. The shipping was maybe 20 bucks. I have sold quite a bit on this website, with 100% feedback. I ship within hours if possible.2 channel:

Paypal keeps bugging me to link my bank accounts to my paypal account. Bugger that ! No one accesses my bank account but me, ever. Paypal gave me a limit of $10'000.00 before they insist on linking with my bank. I have almost reached the 10K so I'm now using my wife's paypal account. (for another $9500.00 or so anyway)

When Paypal demanded a bank account be linked to my paypal account, basically as a "hostage", I opened a savings account at a bank that only requires a constant balance of more than ten dollars. And whenever I have to choose a Paypal source of funds I click on a credit card I use only for Paypal payments.
Twice I have had to start a complaint for a cancellation of the charge. Merchandise was never shipped. I contacted the credit card company first and the charge was cancelled. PayPal was pissed off too. They said that any return of funds must go through them and they were going to take the money out of my attached account.
Nope. No money there. And my credit card company cancelled the charge. So it was paypal that lost the money, not me.
The strange thing was they didn't try to cancel my account or make any changes to it.
And I have done this twice without any repercussions. -
Seller contacted me today. Said he was new to pay pal and thought that it was standard procedure to wait 5 business days. He apologized and mailed my item out this morning. He then sent me another message this afternoon with more apologies. I guess we will see when my item shows up and go from there.2 channel:

I just sold my VTL preamp this morning, shipped it to Quebec I only use EMT when I ship something..
I know EMT is not possible from USA to Canada or vice versa so PayPal is your only option I think.

I only use emt as well. But some people feel more security when using PayPal, which is understandable. Everyone does things differently, but for me, once the money is in your pay pal account it should be shipped fairly promptly. Not 5 days later. I did use a credit card which I know is an almost instant transfer, when using bank account as you said can take up to 5 days, my experience is 3. Let's just say what I payed for the item I'm receiving is a really great deal, especially because it's in Canadian funds. We will see the condition when it gets here. I didn't want to say since the transaction wasn't complete. But a pair of 10 foot MIT shot gun s2 biwire. Upgrading from avt3 biwire. Should be a significant improvement! I have magnums interconnects in the system, feel like those avt3's are holding things back a bit.
