Hello folks, it's been a long time.

I bought this amp 5 years ago, to this day have not plugged it in. Hoping to find somebody that can give it a new home and actually use it.. Here is a link to where I bought it from Toolfan66

@DSkip I won't need a variac or anything for that will I? Just a power up (with load of course), no volume with a long warm up, then gradual volume? Or do I need the full monty?

As I can recall this EL34-amplifier delivered very beautiful mid-range sound, but lacking of bass, and part of the reason is my speaker efficiency. I also tried Cary tube amp with KT88, it improved the bass, but losing the beautiful mid-range sound. I believe choosing speakers for EL34-tube amp is very important. I sold all tube amps later due to small children in the house, but I always miss the warm, lush, and very smooth sound from this Dodd tube amp. If I ever come back to tube amp, it'd be an amplifier with EL34 or 300B.

Congrats Buhl on the amp...been chatting with Russ and if you ever want to pass it on I would love to have the first shot at it and give it to Russman himself. He used this amp at his first LSAF show in the Polk demo.

Thank you so much - Please pass along my best to Russ - he has given me great guidance in the past at different times. It'll be offered no where else I promise - (but mostly because I hope to build a system around this).

I'll say its history here makes this a double "one of a kind" for me, I don't even have it yet and I'm showing people pictures in the office and '07 Fest reviews (who frankly don't give a crap about audio I've realized), this is a dream amp for me. Hell there's no financial way I should have bought this amp right now. I guess what I'm saying is it's already bringing me great joy - so thank you again.

Chances at "one of a kind" are slim indeed in my experience and I wouldn't have forgiven myself for passing on this.

That amp did some time in my brother's secondary rig. He had it mated to a Dodd MLP. In the end both units put off just a bit too much heat for a desk top unit in a small upstairs bedroom (office). In the Summer months it was just too warm.

Should be no problem in larger room and/or when you aren't sitting right next to it like he was.

I have never had any issues with Dodd gear,,they are becoming somewhat rare these days. I remember when I first joined this forum,,ELP's were everywhere,, nowadays,,try to find one. Enjoy your amp,,I am sure that you will be rewarded with many hours of listening pleasure.Also,, Hoosier is a great guy to deal with,,, my first deal ever on this forum was a pair of 1 C's that I got from him.

Don't know whether to pair it with the Dodd MLP (but the synergy with that and the McCormack are just outstanding) or ... man - just something totally different.

The ELP is just a fun little pre,,, still have one left,,,pulled it out the other day,,,forgot how much I love it!

Ohhhh mannn. Unfortunately I was taken ill almost all week this week and only was just able to pickup the amp from work.

For now, the easiest thing was to do something I never pictured doing, pull the McCormack and pop the Dodd in there temporarily... so that's what I done!

It doesn't seem to have any trouble with the modded 1c's though. Listening thoughts to follow but I had to send thanks again to Russ and some eye candy pics.
