I bought into 'Doc' Hardy's idea

He said I would be better off served if I used those wire slant stands for the M7s instead of the ADC303ax. That's what I did and I think it came out ok. Whether or not it sounds better needs more listening timed96ixkmev2ma.jpg

Looks like the tweet is angled back too much & making the tweet going over your head unless your sitting/standing up ?

You need to work on speaker placement before you spend another dime on this hobby.

Have no fear. The slanting is adjustable so it can be lowered. Instead of the wobbly stands (in the closet now) that the EPIs were on, they also were moved to be stacked on the ADC303ax. Hey it's one 18'x15' living room w/ the fronts devoted to the 2bs ,so there's not much I can do in terms of logistics and placement options. Meanwhile they all sound fine and the room even looks better and cleaner w/ that 2nd move. As you see I even vacuumed for the occasion.

There has got to be zero imaging/sound stage with them on opposite ends of the room like that, no?

Sometimes when I take a picture of something afterwards notice I need to dust, I dust and retake the picture. :p

Maybe I'm missing something but I only see ONE of each speaker in a half shot of said room? How can anyone tell where the other one is? Do you guys have some fancy software that extrapolates possible positioning? Plus who can see dust in the photo, I can't even see it when I walk into one of my rooms. lol

You can tell the position of the speakers based on the couch in each picture. They're on the far opposite left and right sides of the room next to the ends of the couch.

OK, I see it. Didn't process that I was looking at speakers on either side of the room because my brain balked at such a configuration, refused to see it. Which makes GGrand's statement transparent now. My processing just shut down, can't drink coffee at night, d a m n!

Yeah that's crazy positioning, especially for SDAs?

His SDA's are setup properly in front. It's just his "extra" speakers on the far sides.

Nighfall, thank you. Yes the SDA i39jrdngup8l.jpg
2Bs are front and center w/ a 7' spred using 12 gu. Belden. All my other sets as you pointed out are at opposite sides of the room which in reality isn't all that big to begin with. Ask Pumpkinman, he heard them all and liked the DCM Time Frames the best over the others mainly because he has way better Vandy 3s and Polk 1c and formally 7s. My invite is still open to anyone who doubts what this sounds like. Lunch is on me and bring any device you want to test this said system. Sit right in the middle of the couch and for the 2Bs your almost at a perfect equilateral triangle and the others logistically I have no choice but again distance wise it's almost the same.

Ok good, I was wondering about placement. I was going to mention something last night but I didn't. IMHO, placement is the most important item in this 'hobby'. Get it right.

The Monitor Series loudpspeakers are pretty easy IMO.
Keep 'em a few feet out of the corners and (if at all possible) a few feet from the back wall -- get 'em up on stands and tip 'em back a wee bit so that the tweeters are roughly aimed at the listening position. Toe 'em in a little if possible and they'll do great IMO/IME.

    Short and sweet...lmao !

I 've been asking roughly the same thing for awhile now. LW, seems like you have the SDA's in their place up front, might be better to get rid of that very small center, sell the hodge podge of speakers you've collected, and get some surrounds and be done. Any other available coin should go to upgrading the sources and/or cables. You might find a better musical enjoyment if you focus on what exactly it is your trying to accomplish.

Tony the actual problem is that I don't like H/T all that much and when I do listen to it generally it's either early morning or late night listening. I need the Yamaha for my i-net radio,tv,fm, dock i-pod sources. Truth be told once the sub is dialed in and I had a cop living on top of me and he couldn't take the rumble and politely told me to tune it down. I did and he gave me a PBA card for being neighborly. Secondly, I've said this many times all my speakers sound different, some better than others but besides the JBL -2060s none of them suck so they are used weekly I like to say. A minor analogy would be like having kids. There all yours but they are all different. So yes the modded 2Bs rule for the most part and then when it suits me I push a button and another set comes on. Don't fixate on the H/T they are all hung and as Klipsch smalls out of the way and would take some patching and painting to remove them. I did see a set of Ohm/Walsh 3xo for $350 central jersey C/L but that kind of ready cash I never have so I settle on either cheaper models or a very desperate housewife who has to move and has no idea what her late husband has spent on his audio gear. That's how I got the 2Bs for $50. So in actuality lets see what I have.
'87 SDA 2Bs (most here will agree a very good to great speaker)
DCM Time Frame 350s Transmission line speakers- excellent for what they look like
    ADC 303ax-- poor mans AR-2a
EPI-100V great east coast sound out of a 2-way
Polk '78 Monitor 7-- also known as a good floor stander w/ a passive radiator.
JBL-2060-the leper of the group just don't make the grade and even moved them out of my bdrm just to keep them up high and out of the way.
