Any of you blues dudes ever into Roy Buchanan

My friend brings over 2 classic blues albums.1st up was the famous Blues Breakers Beano Lp which I heard about 20,00x both on vinyl and on cd. This was a very clean LP and sounded great. The 2nd was Roy Buchanan's 2nd album. To say he was the master of the Telecaster would be the understatement of the century past and present. His control of both volume and tone knobs while still playing and shredding is amazing. I'm amazed that I never was into him more but his early passing and me being mostly into British blues might have something to do w/ it. So after gifting my friend my AAL 81/2 2 ways he brings me these 2 albums the Roy to keep and Beano he wanted back. Oh, I got an Adcom GFS-6 Sspeaker selector that is ways above the NIles in both heft, No spring tabs accepting the right gauge of wire just sounding cleaner.

Been a fan since the 70's. Which was when I first discovered him.

I liked his music when I heard it in the 70's, but for some reason never bought any. That should change.

I did a short bio on him and like so many geniuses like Jimi, Mike Blomfield, Paul Butterfield @48, the same age as Roy Buchanan, SRV, Jerry, and Duane Allman just small sample of those gone way before their time. There are hundreds more but these were my favorites and after Jimi went there was no more hero worshiping.

I have been a big fan for a number of years, I've a biography about him and collected his records. I even have the famous burlap bag recording that has the album's title stenciled, in paint, done on his manager's driveway.
He had the (unfortunately) typical blues man ending, died under mysterious circumstances in jail.

Where have you been hiding Lew ???? Roy is the man. His 2nd LP is my favorite. IMHO you can't go wrong with his early stuff. These 2 I'm not terribly found of.

    You're Not Alone, 1978,
    My Babe, 1981,

These 3 on the Alligator label are definitely worth hunting down.

When a Guitar Plays the Blues, 1985, Alligator
Dancing on the Edge, 1986, Alligator
    Hot Wires, 1987, Alligator

Got all of Roy Boys stuff those alligator releases are great love Hot Wires, It took me a while to warm up to Your Not Alone but that version of Turn To Stone is pretty good, might I suggest Guitar On Fire a good disc to introduce you to the man.

I'll go clean the vinyl and give it a spin.

I never bought any of his albums ,but a friend of mine was learning guitar back in the late 70's and Rory Gallagher and Eric Clapton were his blues idols and had their records. Sad passing years ago as Kenneth mentioned above.

Bill, besides Paul Butterfield, Electric Flag, Buddy Guy,The Blues Project,Johnny Winter and Hendrix on a non shtick night just jamming blues I was mostly into the British Blues scene. The original Fleetwood Mac Cream,John Mayall, TYA, Savoy Brown,The Nice, Spooky Tooth Tull, Procal Harum, who if you never saw them were freakin mesmerizing. About that 2nd album he looks so damn comfy in his chair w/ his pipes and things around him and the '53 telecaster I think he called Lady.

Jeff Beck respected him highly. JB's "So We Ended As Lovers" is dedicated to him.

Roy Buchanan's 2nd album has been my favorite since I bought it on vinyl when it came out. It is still one of the albums I would select if stuck on a deserted island. I first heard it while walking by a stereo shop being played on some AR9's and I went inside and just couldn't believe how good he was. P-Man and Gudnoyez hit the nail on the head but the 2nd album has always held a special spot for me.

It was so clean and clear and it was my 1st time hearing it on the 2nd song you can actually here him use the pick=up switch ,very subtle but it's there.

Any of Roy Buchanan is very good. Have to agree the Second Album stands out as well as the recordings made at Alligator records. Big blues fan here!
