DCM Time Window 1As or Polk R50s or Monitor 70s

Hello everyone. Looking for some input from the vintage lovers here, I also posted this in the speakers forum but thought I might get some other opinions here from guys who know the DCMs.

Right now I have a Yamaha RX-V475 receiver powering two Polk R50s for the fronts with some crappy KLH for rear and center channels.

First option I am thinking replacing the fronts for something better like a matched set with a matching center channel and putting the R50s for the rear channels.

My second option is two more R50s with matching center so I have 4 R50s and the matching center for a true matched set.

Option three is getting some DCM Time Window 1As for the rear speakers and keeping the R50s up front along with grabbing a matching Polk center. I am just worried the DCMs are better then the R50s and what can I match as a center to them for fronts moving the Polks to the rears.

Last option would be some Monitor 70s for the fronts with a matching center, not sure how much of an improvement the 70s are over the R50s though.

I would like to add that I do listen to music about 25% of the time, the other 75% I would be watching movies if that makes any difference. Price is $200 on any of the routes I decide to go picking up these items in excellent shape on CL.

Just found online some DCM TF400s for $200 and then another listing for TF600s with DCM center speaker and a sub for $200 along with a Pioneer receiver. Decisions...decisions.

I tried to post this before but now I have got it right.1st off I would never use DCM TW 1a for a surround speaker as they are that good for 2 chl.work right up front I own the lesser series of DCM Time Frame 350s and if I did not have my Polk 2Bs they would be my go 2 speakers hands down. There is a listing for a whole DCM surround set up you might want to inquire about but those look like Sound Scapes which were made for H/T more than music which might hit your spot. Rears some here say don't have to match so pretty much anything you pick that's worthy will work. My 350s both re foamed and socked were $160 from C/L...most over at AK say the 600s are the very sweet spot for the TF series.

What would you use for a center channel to go with the DCM TFs? The one listing I found had the DCM center channel with the Time Frames, not sure if its matched or just a DCM center. I also am uncertain whether my avr can power the 600s.

I couldn't help you there. There are a different kind of speaker known as transmission line and and to have timbre matching center would be a hard call. That C/L listing I gave you is of a full DCM surround system if that's the way to go. Aslo I think your avr if going for bigger 2 channel speakers better have pre -outs to add a an amp or you will clip like crazy. I did w/my Yamaha rx-v665 (very disappointing) and then got my Adcom. Take a look on the other thread on speakers and see what your in for w/ DCMs.
