CS245i versus the CS400i? What the biggest differences? Is it worth it?

I have heard from most of you that the 400i will really sound better? But why is that? I have the oppurtunity to trade in my CS245i for $200 and buy the 400 for another $200. Is this worth it? I would like to use the Blue card and get the speaker for $70 bucks, but AMEX said that I had to pay for the speaker in-full, no trade-ins. So is it worth it?

listen to it, if it sounds like it's worth $200 extra dollars to you, go for it! i definitely think it is! what it has over the 245i is larger woofers, the power port - (ARC), anti-diffraction bezel (which helps with imaging), and in my mind, it sounds a hell of alot better that the 245i, not that the 245i is bad...

The cs400i not only sounds better but can handle a hell of alot more power also. It is a must if you are building a more powerful HT. What are you running for mains???? Later:cool:

I second that---and---the FX500i's will have the tweeters to match your upgraded setup.
    Mine:
    RT1000's
    CS400
    fx500i's
    One Word: AWESOME

I just can't fit the 500i's in my budget now. And I have to decide between surrounds or the new center. I am more swaying towards surrounds because I need something that is wall mountable. My Optimus LX5s aren't. If they were, than that would be a different story. The 500i's are just more than I need. I know that the tweeter will match but they are just too damn expensive. So will I be happy with the f/x300i's?

    Thanks again.

    lax01,

I have close to the same setup you have.

    RT1000p fronts
    CS400i center
    F/X 300i rears

I was looking at the 500i's, but the wife factor was involved and I just did not have enough room on the walls. I really am glad I went with the 300i's. They are a nice size and I think they sound great. Hope this helps.

Found a great deal at an authorized dealer for the same price as www.brandnamez.com. I am going to go get them tonight. I hope they are as good as everyone tells me they are.

    Thanks for all the help!

    Hey guys,
I found an outstanding deal on a CS400i at brandnamez.com for 269.00. I've got a CS245i sitting in the living room still in the box that I purchased from Circuit City last week. Will be taking it back now since I've got this beast coming next week.

Thanks for the input all !!!

Just got f/x300i and watch Star Wars Ep. 1. Wow the f/x series is soooooo much better than old Optimus. BTW, I mounted them on to the sides of my couch about 3-4 above listening levels. Is this alright. Also I couldn't get them exactly parallel because the studs weren't parallel. Is this alright? Thanks for all the help!

I ran into the same issue, so I use wall anchors and the speakers are not going anywhere. This allowed me to put the speakers directly across from each other.
