Having missed another opportunity at a Black Cat Veloce that I've been wanting to try for a while after being recommended to me by two members whose opinions I trust, I went off in search last night. I couldn't find any Veloces either used or new (not realizing these aren't really made anymore), but instead came across Chris Sommovigo's current project, redlevel.
Some of this line is still in development, and apparently very eagerly anticipated by some familiar with previous product. I have to say, from what I've read so far, if passion and love can impart anything into a cable's sound, this redlevel stuff should be bliss. I really like how Chris describes his latest designs and what went into these designs. And after reading up in the About section, I like his philosophy on life in general. at an age where a little soul searching is creeping in, this little quasi-bio blurb speaks to me a bit - step back. reassess. prioritize. let go. simplify. move to Japan.
that aside, and back to audio, this makes my third cable curiosity in as many months. my first experience was a bit of a profound introduction (I plan to write a little about that when I get settled in some changes again), and I've gone from skeptical but open, to hell yes cables matter. I think this officially earns me cable junkie status. and yes, I realize this goes against what I like about the philosophy I'm linking, but I've still got work to do here before I simplify. besides. I struggle daily with at least three personalities, and one of me is pointing it out for you ahead of time.
I'd really like to try a full set of the cables he's making.
