Microsoft Surface 2.......

Anyone have the Microsoft Surface 2? I have an older iPad (3 years old) that has slowed down significantly and become unreliable. I have an opportunity to get a Surface 2 (NOT the Pro version) for a really cheap price. Only looking for a travel tablet that I can do some word processing, apps, internet and music - I really don't need a full blown laptop and like the portability / functionality of the tablets. Just trying to see if anyone has one and likes it and how it compares to the iPad in terms of apps, ease of use, etc......
Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance
Shawn

They are pretty nice tablets. Pro's are great for drawing but the RT's aren't bad either. I personally would take one over an iPad but the Windows manager might take some time to get use to if you haven't used Windows 8.x before.

yea windows RT not so much, however I had an asus tablet that ran full full windows 8 and I liked it because I could run any program on it. The downsize was that it wasn't all that fast. So I would hold out for a pro if I could. You might get frustrated with the limitations of the RT...but then again, if its a fairly fluid and responsive tablet and you only want it for basic functionality, it might work for you.Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

They are releasing 8.1 update 3 shortly that brings some windows 10 functionality bit as long you don't use it for anything complex the rt models are ok
the new surface 3 is awesome as well as the pro model.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Also check that the keyboard is adequate to your purpose. My wife was looking at the Surface Pro back in April. The keyboard wasn't able to keep up w/ her typing.

She ended up buying a Mac Book Pro laptop. Keyboard meets her needs & the touch pad is beyond anything I have seen on a Windows machine. Once she got past adjusting to a whole new OS, she now loves it.
