yamaha 5590 and rear center channel

I have a 5590 that I bought last August and always thought that the rear channel sounded "different". I initially had 2 rti28 running in parrellel and thought maybe that was the issue but it didn't help. I've tried different speakers and different wire but i still get the same thing. The best way to describe it is its like reverberation. I've gotten this sound sometimes when running pro logic in the fronts but no where near this bad. It happens in forced dolby digital matrix(which I thought might be the issue) but When watching LOTR the other day id dts discrete it was really noticeable. Could it be crosstalk or is something bad in the yamaha. When I do test tones from S&V tuneup the speaker has an almost "hissy" sound to it. I'm running fxi30 for side surround and a single rti28 in the rear. Any suggestions?
Thanks for the help.

That sounds strange. Did you contact Yamaha about the problem? Is the receiver still under warranty?
