Our secondary TV is being replaced.....need something around 40 inches,
LED I supposed.....refresh rate should be 120, 240, 60?
I would contemplate a plasma but not sure if thats even possible....

  • Over the last 4 years I've defaulted to shopping for TVs at Costco. They have Visio, Samsung and others and you can find good reviews of all at Cnet.

They have low prices and the higher end options too, but the main reason is you have 90 days (no questions) to return it you don't like it in your system or if there are any issues. The over whelming majority of TVs that crap out do so in the first month, maybe two and I've had other chains make the return process a hassle.

I can recommend Crutchfield. Fast shipping, usually good prices, especially on sale items and you can usually skip paying taxes. But the big one, AWESOME customer service.

They have a super easy 60 day return policy, but if you have a bum unit or just really don't like it they have returned/exchanged for me no problem.

I think the smallest plasma sets have been 50" for quite a while now.

As for refresh rates, I've found the higher it goes the better fast action scenes (action movies, sports) look.

...or wait for OLED to become cheaper. I don't like the TV I have now but I'm going to stick with it until Vizio or someone makes a FLAT and inexpensive OLED panel.
