Need some feedback as i dont know much about Marantz sr 4023 2channel receiver. 80wpc. Will this receiver match with his pair of vintage ADS L810's. A friend asked me about the unit & i looked at manual & it shows 6-8ohm & i believe the speakers are 6 ohms & other sites show they are 4 ohm. So i thought id come here n ask..... He also was looking at new Yamaha receivers that show 2-4-6-8 ohm ratings but he dislikes vintage yamaha receivers & is more of a Pioneer vintage kinda guy. He says he is interested in the Yamaha cause of the price & he thinks it might have a different sound being newer (lol) & thinks the newer ones sound different than the vintage ones do. He wants 2 channel & a budget lets say less than 500.00. He listens to FM & cd tape & probably wants phono just incase-but not necessary..... Up here there is nowhere to see-hear these & i dont want to steer him wrong & i told him that..... He has bought used off the bay & is tired of issues with equipment failures. Should he stay vintage OR go for a new 2 channel ? Any thoughts

I had one. It is a solid piece, and can be had for much less than $500. When I had the SR4023 paired up with a pair of Cambridge Audio Aero 2 it was some great synergy.

I guess he went with the Yamaha rs500bl. I know nothing about that receiver so i had no input. I know he didnt like the CR-1040 i let him use before he decided not to buy it & that receiver would push SDA2b's with no problem. So we will see how he likes this new Yammy...
