Those new Pioneers are sexy! Congrats!
And, though, I am NOT a big TT guy, I have a preference toward good budget Shure carts. Especially those that are basically new versions of the old classic standards. They track well, they sound good, they're NOT too detailed so that you have to worry about PRISTINE vinyl surfaces-smooth without all the FUSS of the High End carts! Leave that to the VPI record cleaning OCD boys and girls, with the marble plinths and the 50+ pound tables! I just spin old discs for nostalgic purposes. Back in the '60s and '70s, NONE of us EVER heard any record on anything more than a mid-level table with a 30-50 dollar cart-(in most cases a Shure or an AT). That's the way we remember vinyl. And it is, don't get me wrong, an experience of nostalgia, first and foremost! We're NOT going to start chasing multi thousand dollar vinyl carrots in the 21st century! But we're also not going to stop those with infinite resources and time from doing so, either. It's about the music and "you" when all is said and done.
Enjoy!
Thank you cnh!! I was surprised that the shure cart was included! I'm definitely happy! I've never really had a "real" TT, just a basic belt driven one that came with an early rack system back some 25-30 years ago. I found a bunch of vinyl from many years back that I had forgotten about, that was the driving factor in a modern day TT purchase for me! Also wanted to get back into spinning some vinyl after finding them stashed away!
It's true what you said about music and "you" when all is said and done! After all, it's your ears that determine the fun factor!!

WTG Chef!! let us know how you like it after you spend some time with it!
Hey, Thank you voltz!!! So far I'm having fun with it... It's a heavy, solid and stable deck! I still need to get used to all the features on it since I've never had pitch control, etc!! But, I'll let you know in the long run!

^^^Thank you Keiko, I'll eventually upgrade that cartridge, but for now it's ok.
I would like to sample a higher quality cart, any problems with yours? How do you like it and which ones have you had in the past?

I got curious and did a little digging. I discovered apparently that all these Super OEM tables are manufactured by the same company and get rebadged; Pioneer, Audio-Technica, Stanton, Reloop, Gemini, etc... They basically all utilize the same motor and tonearm.

Pioneer PLX-1000 vs Technics SL-12xx
youtube.com/watch?t=1134&v=mNzMcH2ZbtU
Yes, I've seen the youtube one, and loosely heard about the rebadging. That's why it was taking me so long to purchase the TT. I then came across this deal, and seemed like the best deal at the time. Needless to say, I'm happy with it, it has the guts of the Technics, which I've always wanted.
One more thing Kieko, I like the cart you have on your TT in the post you mentioned, when I'm ready to upgrade, I'll keep this setup in mind! It's pretty sweet!

Yep, like Keiko says, assuming its a good match for your arm, the Denon DL-110 is a very good cart. You may find a gently good used one for $75 or under if you're patient on the forum. (Reminds me of a joke in an old Playboy: A cartoon of a mouse standing next to an elephant. The mouse says, "Please be gentle."

I got in just under the wire before Panasonic pulled the plug on Technics. Glad I got my 1210 when I did.
Chef, when you're ready to upgrade, the DL110 would be a good starting point, IMO. They're nearly on par with the DL160.
Here's a vendor in Japan that has 'em for under 200.00 bucks. On average, they sell for around 250.00.
What's nice about these High Output Moving Coils is you can use them in an MM stage without the need of a step up transformer.

When I used regular analog cables for my TT to Phono amp (tonearm cable) I got a bad hum even without anything playing...but when I used the cable supplied by Pro-Ject with my TT it was really quiet.
I am now using a "Dynamique Audio's Horizon 2 Phono" in RCA to RCA and it was like $130 and everything else I look at was way up there..Rich can help you with a better one probably.
I know this is an old thread...
@voltz
How do/did you like that Dynamique Horizon 2 Phono? I am currently using a SignalCable Silver interconnect with a spare ground cable. Everything seems fine, but I don't know the capacitance and if I am missing anything by not having a cable that is "meant" for phono.
There is one for sale for around a hundy, and I was thinking of grabbing it. Probably don't need it, but was just checking..2 ChannelTurntable - VPI Classic 2/Ortofon 2M BlueAmplification - Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum II, Parks Audio Budgie PhonoSpeakers - GoldenEar Triton 17.2 Home TheaterDenon AVR-X3300W; Rotel RMB-1066; Klipsch RP-280F's, Klipsch RP-450C, Polk FXi3's, Polk RC60i; Dual SVS PB 2000's; BenQ HT2050; Elite Screens 120"Man CaveTurntable - Pro-Ject 2.9 Wood/Grado GoldAmplification - Dared SL2000a, McCormack DNA 0.5 DeluxeCD: Cambridge AudioSpeakers - Wharfedale Linton 85th Anniversary; LSiM 703; SDA 2A -
I liked it but not enough over the Silver Ref's that Frank made me, and I also got a "Ortofon's 6NX-TSW Phono" that I had been using for awhile.
but when I added a SUT (step up transformer) I have been using the 2 sets of cable's they set me. 1 set between TT & SUT and the other between SUT & Phono amp.
