My trusty Denon 2808Ci is giving me cause for concern.
I noticed the last few days that my sub has been fairly inactive. Checked all settings and connections, all seems fine. Still nothing from the Velodyne.
So I move it to the 2ch system, make all connections and adjust settings. It fires right up and thumps away.
Move it back to the HT, once again nothing.
My buddy has a slim line Marantz receiver that is collecting dust, he let me borrow it to test. I put the Marantz in the system, make all connections and adjust all the settings. Velodyne fires right up and thumps away...
If we did not just dump $$$$ into converting our fireplace to a natural gas insert, I would have already ordered a new AVR. However, I need to recover from that punch in the gut...
In an attempt to keep the Denon going as long as possible, is there anything I could be missing?
I checked all crossover settings, made sure the sub is turned ON, tried all audio modes...
Frustrating as everything else works perfectly fine on this unit.

If the sub has speaker level inputs...there's an alternative, also if the slim line Marantz can be borrowed for a bit...maybe go that way if your buddy will let you. Just sounds like something in the pre-out circuits on the Denon are going south.
The Velodyne does have speaker level inputs, so that's a good one to try!
My buddy has no issue with me running the Marantz for as long as I need to. Just tough to give up the extra muscle of the Denon...
I'm looking at the Marantz SR7009 as a possible future replacement. That is dependent on some kind of work around for HDCP 2.2 (IE: dual HDMI outs on future Oppo units, direct to 4K tv and audio direct to 7009).

Max, just as a test, noticing your 2 channel system has a HCA-1500A in it, here's the ultimate test...hook that up to the sub outs on the Denon, obviously turn the gains down on it and hook up a pair of speakers and go play in the Denon's settings, see if indeed something is askew, like trying to raise the crossover point as high as the sub out will go or even full range. Trying to get sound out of it etc. Also, have you tried a different set of interconnects between the Denon and Velodyne? Just going through my mind for testing ideas is all here.
I'm going to try the speaker level inputs first...
I would rather not unhook and lug around the 1500A. Knowing my luck, I would drop the 1500A and break my foot (and more importantly the amp)!
I have changed sub cables. I picked up two new sub cables just to be sure.

Yeahhhhhh considering the 1500A and the 1200II are very similar is specs...probably weigh about the same...heavy! BUT man the power...oh so nice
Ohhh I love my 1500A!
It was driving my 806V's to glorious levels tonight...
It's always a treat when you get home and the wife and kids are out!
I ran right to my 2ch room and turned the system on to warm up. -
If you haven't already you can try to do a hard reset on the receiver to take it back to its factory settings. Sometimes works, like rebooting a computer. Only problem is you should write down your settings so you can get everything back to the same point easier.

I don't know what to tell you. Those earlier Denons are notorious for having sub/sub/sub menus-lots of MENU layering so that if the unit was, somehow, reset, you'd have to go back in there and check all your settings. Hard to believe the sub-out just failed! I assume you've checked ALL of those menus, right? I have the previous 2807 in my office and it's a royal pain to set up. The manual is next to useless. And unless you're reasonably savvy with this kind of gear most people give up. lol
This generation of Denons, some of the worst interfaces, menus in the business! But the sound is not bad!
Good luck!Currently orbiting Bowie's Blackstar.!

There is something very wrong with my Denon...
I hooked it back up, the speaker level suggestion is working great!
But further testing is showing strange problems. If I touch ANY button on the front panel it just keeps trying to turn on the XM tuner in zone 3...
I'll just limp it along as long as I can and pick up a new AVR once the funds become available again. -
Maybe a hard reset might cure some software issues ?HT SYSTEM-
