senseless thoughts

Just sitting here listening to the sansui au-999.
It's certainly not the ARC. The ARC had clearer sound,
better soundstage , you name it. But d@mn it, the thing just sounds
like music. It really does nothing wrong. After modding and recapp,
the music is, well, organic. This is why I decided to make some changes
(that and the ol' lady griping at me). Sometimes you just have to listen to
music instead of picking it apart.
I will be looking at a couple of new SS amps with this in mind.
At some point the Sansui will have to go. But I'm going to miss it.

I so identify with that sentiment concerning certain vintage pieces. Some are musical magic, and yes, they are NOT the final word in detail, imaging, sound stage, etc. But you can listen forever and ever and you do forget about everything else. It is hard to let go! Good luck!
