Technically almost all the music I listen to is for non-critical listening.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

Yeah, I have quite a bit as well but most of mine is Metal from the 80's..
I have a great copy of RATT out of the cellar that sounds exceptional though..
Most of it is for listening in the car, and when I think AC/DC I don't think turning down the lights and vegging to some tunes, that's cruising music to drive fast to.Polk Audio SDA 2.3tl Fully Hot Rodded. 😎

I mostly enjoy the blues and blues-rock for chillin.

Non critical for me, Accept Udo only, AC DC Bon Scott era but since my Grandson has shown a intrest in all things AC DC I've been weening myself on the Brian Johnson era. Judas Priest, Ratt Out Of The Cellar, awesome can't remember how many times I played Lack Of Communication, Cinderella, Iron Madien, pretty much all the 80s stuff. Like you say Crusin tunes. I just put some new JBL'S in the truck and this is pretty much all that I have been listening to while driving to work.Home Theater

Would Rush and Tool be considered critical listening material? I think so.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

What is non-critical listening music?
Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion."
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

It is to me, but I do wish Tool had just a little better quality recordings. I have a lot of good Rush recordings..

Many Rush records aren't particularly bad sounding, but most of them are pretty lean in the bass. Some of their teamsters though are superb, I have the 2112 BluRay and it IS one of my albums for critical listening.
Ultimately and overall though, neither of these bands really come to mind when I think critical listening as most of their albums are lacking in one or more key areas for such listening. -
