So I went for a walk this weekend and stumbled upon this...

Well OK actually it was more of a hike than the thread title would indicate but anyway...
Some of you may remember me starting THIS THREAD almost a year ago now soliciting advice on places to move and we decided on Colorado Springs. We moved at the end of May and our first month out here has been fun. Of course the month we move out here would be the month they set rainfall records here, but we did the same in Texas that month, strange weather this year for sure.
We have hit the reset switch on the house situation so we're in an apartment right now while we figure out exactly where we want to live, we're leaning towards Woodland Park. I forgot how much apartments suck but that's for another thread...
We spent the first couple weeks getting settled and then hit the trails the last couple weekends. We're both out of shape, the altitude is fine for daily walks and such but on the more strenuous hikes it really kicks our ****. We started with some easy stuff like Garden of the Gods but all the really good stuff is a few minutes out of town in the mountains so we've spent a couple days there, there are more trails and things to see up there than I'll ever have time for.
Once I get a more efficient workflow set up in Lightroom I'll share out a few albums from our hikes and such, some truly breathtaking scenery out here. We've been out here on vacations lots of times, but it's so much better living here because I don't feel like I have to do and see everything on a trip. We can take our time and enjoy everything more because, well, if we don't get to something today or a storm shows up and spoils our hike to the top we can just come back and do it tomorrow.
I think I've always been an outdoors person and didn't know it, just never had much reason to get outside while living in Texas the first 35 years of my life. I wish I hadn't waited so long to move, but better late than never I guess. -

you're just now moving to a place like that? from your avatar, I thought you were already a resident/pro outdoorsman. sure does sound like quite the outdoorsy playground though, from your description. pretty cool that you've found a place you seem to feel at home in and are enjoying getting acquainted and settled in. indeed, I wouldn't think one could get his fill on that kind of activity going it vacation style alone.I disabled signatures.

I had Josh put that on hold for me luckily before he got started, housing situation has changed (as in we are now looking for a house again) and with the options in woods I have for those speakers I want a perfect match since they're going in our main living area.
The only audio gear I own at the moment are my headphone rigs and a single Martin Logan Vision sounder, I **** you not... -
You and me both. I've tried, many times. I love CO and would happily give up my audio to live in that kind of environment.

Just remember, because you didn't see the lions doesn't mean they were were not watching you.Vinyl, the final frontier...
Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want... -
Reminds me of parts of the Balkans in Europe. There are some spectacular views there, but very few inhabitants. Just breathtaking. I can see your attraction.
Unfortunately, Colorado is not for me. Not that it is not beautiful and scenic. Just don't like the location. I'm a spring city kind of guy. If I could afford it, and I CANNOT, and if earthquakes were not a problem, which they are and can be, San Diego would be the perfect spot. I also love the ocean. But, let's face it, that's not going to happen. The best I might do is China's spring city, Kunming (over 5,000 feet above sea level with a 20+mile lake next to it that helps regulate its temps lower to mid 70s year round, with 80-90 percent sunshine and little rain). But, then again, I'd probably never retire to mainland China for other reasons. So darn hard to find a place that's acceptable! Shot of Dianchi lake below:
Enjoy the house hunting. It's pretty country, regardless.Currently orbiting Bowie's Blackstar.!

Nice! CO is beautiful, thankfully I think in the next year our home office is going to move from Dallas to Denver, so I'll be out that way a few times a year. I hear ya' on the apartment situation, I had a house six years and before that rented one two years. Spent the last fifteen months in an apartment, apartment life sucks. Good luck with the house search, I'm more than happy with mine. Can't wait to get the man cave finished and post pictures.

I think Colorado is one of the most beautiful places on earth. I took this photograph while off-roading near Silverton. We will be moving to CO. within 3 years.

Are you going to see some shows at Red Rocks now that you're relatively close? One of the best venues in the country.
You're real close to Pikes Peak. There is a race there once a year that you should go to if you have any interest in cars and racing. I went two or three years ago and it was a blast. There was a 1,000hp Honda Odyssey van as well as a semi truck that did the climb.

That race was actually this past weekend, but we were camping...

Danny,
The scenery looks amazing. You know you miss the congested city life of Dallas, haha.
