newer pre/amp here

As I told you guys Pumpkin Man paid me a visit here and brought some of his goodies. The one I really wanted to hear was that small tube pre but because one of the NAD amp inputs fell off in my hand and it was fixed once Bill said it's not worth the time to fix the thing. Added to that I had a bad i/c. Not knowing but when you start to unplug sh%t craz


y stuff happens. He says give this Sony try and it worked very well and he said if you like it it's for lunch. I had that covered so I me a new/old Sony TA-ES2000ESD sound processor but I only need it as a pre. I was wound up the other day so here's some pixs. It's a great looking albeit huge in comparison to some of the pres I've or even had.The ends are capped in wood and it's a good looking very heavy unit.Also is a shot of the remote which has got to be the largest in i/r remote history. Even this early it's playing. This thing has so many features and 4/5ths of them I'll never use but I did d/l a pdf copy of the users/owners manual and there is a lot to read.... Lew

So hows she sound ? Always said the older pre/pros work great as a SS pre amp.

Tony, to be honest the NAD had more umpf to it if you can understand that uniquely audiophile term. The NAD I truly could not go past 9'oclock and the walls would shake w/ the 2Bs. Here I do have to turn it up a bit more and even more for the other sets. It has some many knobs and do dads that my head is spinning and I d/l a pdf copy of the owners/repair manual which itself is 59 pages.For something made from 93-96 and still going is a testament on how it was made. This model is 1 newer than the 1000esd and again no HDMI but I don't need any. It's a shame the NAD went down the day he came but that sh&t happens and he had both the Sony and that tube pre which because of the problems I didn't even get a chance to hear. Here's some reviews Tony I never saw anything from you I'll look to see what I missed.

Tony I just checked my message in box and the only thing I got from you was from Feb 11th. You were trying to describe the difference between ss and tubed pres. There was no other messages and nothing concerning any offer of any kind. Thanks for what ever you offered, what ever it was and I'm still open to pretty much anything now. On the 7 front the x-overs are going out to Dave when my gov't dole comes in a few days and they should be fine for another 25 years or so. Besides my speaker wish list I don't really need all that much, but will listen to offers tendered
