LOS ANGELES — Patrick Macnee, the British-born actor best known as dapper secret agent John Steed in the long-running 1960s television series ‘‘The Avengers,’’ has died.

He was 93.


I loved that show, and had a terrific crush on him when I was a kid. He had a nice long life, may he RIP.

    Thank you so much Cathy for posting this. I saw that he had passed away the other day and meant to post it then. Patrick Macnee was an excellent British actor and had many various roles on tv, stage and screen. As mentioned by Mikey, always a gentleman, and a great voice and narrator. So long Dr. Watson, R.I.P.
