After 3 expandable hoses blowing up this season, I had to look for a good one. One that didn't cost a whole lot too. Here's what I ordered, still under a Father's day sale for under a hun! Off the audio topic I know but I don't want to join a Hose forum (wife might not like that) and I thought after all my research I'd share what I believe is the best bang for the buck on a great quality Hose. anyone here into the Hose?? Watch it!!!! lol :phttp://www.waterrightinc.com/collections/500-series-polyurethane-garden-hose/products/100-ft-500-series-1-2-polyurethane-garden-hose

Kinda pricey for a garden hose. I have the usual gripes....not flexible, kinks, leaky connections. Most associated with cheap hoses. I used to buy the more expensive stuff, but found they lasted no longer than the cheaper stuff, just didn't kink as much.

For the 4 months a year here in Chicago we use hoses, not sure it's worth that kinda price but if I lived in a more year round climate, I would consider it.

I hear ya Tony.....just been through enough of the crap hoses and this one has a 5 year warranty, so figured I's give em the biz! If it's as nice as they say, we'll do another for the backyard where we have a older green hose that kinks up a lot on me., but works just the same? 97 bucks for a nice 100 footer seems to me good for me. I also ordered their trigger nozzle for 13 bucks to bring me up to their free shipping! What the heck! right????

Thought the link said 140 bucks ? 100 bucks is more in line with a quality 100 footer.

I bought 3 100 footers at Ace 15 years ago for $25 each on sale, I'm sure they have gone up. They all still look like new. They should last a long time, unless you buy the cheapest ones they have.

Although it does seem impossible to buy a hose cart that lasts more than a year or two.

Hose for $100 - no thanks! I had the same complaints. Cracking, breaking, etc. I bought two medium duty hoses for $25 a piece and a couple nice wheeled storage carts. Keep them out in the spring and summer and put them away in the shed for the fall and winter. They have lasted multiple years with no signs of wear.

Mine stay out all year long, could be why I only get about 3 seasons out of 'em. At roughly 25-30 bucks a hose though, I consider them throw aways. If I spent a 100 + box tops on them though, I might throw them around and scream a few 4 lettered words if they went south on me.

I've tried several different kinds, and they all have their weaknesses. Right now, I'm using one of the expandable (as seen on TV) hoses to water the gardens around our patio. I think it was around $25 give or take for a TWO pack. I figure if I can get a season out of each (so far the first one is holding up great), it's worth it. They came with a cheap plastic nozzle with 6-8 settings. Light duty, but it's working fine for our use.

What I LOVE about the expanding hose is that it shrinks right back down to around 15' and is LIGHT. I just loop it 4 or 5 times around the faucet and it stores nice and neat. Tried everything from normal hoses, to coiled hoses for the patio, and I like the expandable the best.

Now, for heavier duty, it's hit or miss. The best one I had was a 100' rubber hose from Sams. Had REALLY nice thick/solid brass connections on each end. Most others have cheap connections that I end up cutting off and replacing rather quickly!

glad someone has luck with the expandable's!! We had no luck with them at all. Even the Dap x Pro was junk. I have since read too many horror story reviews to ever give one of those a shot again. We'll see how the new one works.

I grabbed 3 of these when they were still Goodyear. Continental apparently bought Goodyear. A 100 foot hose is way more than I need but a couple 50 foot hoses work great.

These are flexible and have been pretty durable. They are like rubber air hoses for your air compressor. They don't get all twisted up and once you get them stretched out, they lay flat. Not bad for $30 each.

If you want a 100 ft hose, this Swan would be the same kind of thing.

Hoses don't matter. They are all the same. They pass water from one end to the other. They do not color the water nor make the stream as it hits the ground sound different. Google Roger Rabbit for a scientific analysis ...Stooges, feel free to argue.

We all know that hoses matter. For instance....inside diameter will dictate the amount of flow. Materials used will dictate what chemicals is leaking into the water. If a hose kinks, flow is again restricted. Then we have connections, everything matters when it comes to hoses. Do they leak ? Are they sturdy enough to be run over by the wife backing out of the garage ? Will they rust....further contaminating the water ? More importantly, can you whip the neighbors without leaving marks when their dog dumps on your yard ? That's a sign of a good hose if you ask me.

Tony, cracked me up bro, I looked at the hose in my back yard and it's a Swan. Or a kinky Swan if I may. It's a decent hose but not like the one coming. I was going to order a MIT hose but they had no Father's Day Sales happening!! Off to the concert!!

MIT hoses are the bomb, you don't even need a nozzle because the stream of water has massive flow, width and height. Takes 2 hands to handle an MIT hose.....downside is you can't scratch your nuts while watering the lawn.

FWIW.....not too long ago I returned/exchanged a Sears Craftsman 5/8" rubber hose that I'd had for approximately 20 years and was handed a brand new one with zero questions or paperwork involved. My water is very corrosive where I live and the brass fittings were shot, the hose itself was still in perfect shape. I like lifetime warranties, a lot ! Sears frequently has em on sale for a very low price. ~~ http://www.craftsman.com/craftsman-5-8-in-x-100-ft-all-rubber/p-07169605000P

The 100 foot Swan I've had for 7 years or longer still works fine out lived 2 hose caddies. I saved big money at Menards if I remember correctly it was $49.99 and the best one they had at the time.
