Possible AVR upgrade (Need suggestions)

Currently I'm using a Adcom GFR-700 and a full LSi set-up-for my HT.

The the fronts and surround channels are powered by external amps but the center channel is plugged into the receiver.

I'm was thinking of possibly moving up to a newer receiver (with pre-outs) but one that can handle a 4ohm center channel speaker. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

If the 4 ohm thing has to happen, then honestly your looking at a Pioneer SC model and thats about it.

There aren't many AVR's rated for 4 ohms I'd "trust" beyond Pioneer.

Anthem told me their MRX-700 could handle a 5 channel LSi setup, but they'd be careful on the volume. Cambridge Audio AVR's aren't rated for it. Onkyo, Yamaha, Denon - if they say it can do 4 ohms, I'd call that a lie. Marantz cant either.

Totally agree elite all the way. I did have a beast of a harman kardon that handled my 5 channel lsi system (7550 hd). But was in a smallish room.

I run a 4ohm load on my center in a denon A1se and never had any issues. Had to tweak the volume on the channel down a few notch's to mitigate the increased volume of the channel which is the only adjustent made for it

Your Denon is the U.S. equivalent to the 5800, a TOTL receiver no doubt, but the processing is outdated. Many of the top receivers can drive 4 ohm loads for a few speakers but I wouldn't run a full 5+ speaker setup of 4 ohm speakers. Especially if you like loud.
