you'd be better to do that at the panel as in whole house.

Those were just examples, you need to get one that fits in your panel.

The key to good lightning protection is a good low impedance connection to ground. That's best served at the panel.
Low impedance means at all frequencies. The tendency is for the panel ground to be a good safety ground and not necessarily a low impedance connection at higher frequencies. Lightning has frequency components that go way up in freq.
Gentle, sloping bends is key. Not sharp and abrupt bends in the ground wire.
As important as it is at the entrance panel, it not a bad idea at all to have the protection at a secondary point also. That way what isn't sunk to ground quick enough at the entrance, still has a secondary point of protection. And if a real strike occurs and blows the entrance protection up or off the wall, then again you have a secondary point to help protect the valuables. A plug through protection module at your microwave for instance is worth the money.
If you still have copper phone lines to the house, put protection on those back at the entrance too. More surges come into facilities on those than on power lines. A bigger surge on a phone line will often jump over to electrical through a device, and that being further away from the power entrance protection can do a lot of damage before it's dissipated.
CJA so called science type proudly says... "I do realize that I would fool myself all the time, about listening conclusions and many other observations, if I did listen before buying. That’s why I don’t, I bought all of my current gear based on technical parameters alone, such as specs and measurements."
More amazing Internet Science Pink Panther wisdom..."My DAC has since been upgraded from Mark Levinson to Topping." -
Another vote for a whole house surge protection at the panel."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

There are also "ground strikes," in which the lightning originates in the ground and rises to meet the opposite charge in the sky. In such cases, the strike can enter a home's electrical circuits through the heavy copper ground stake that is used as the safety ground.
This happened to us, and the charge went from the safety ground into our security system, through which it travelled upwards to the gable peak at the end of our garage, where the horn for the alarm system is place.
The strike blew out the entire end of the gable. But before it exited to the sky, it took out circuit boards in our double ovens, a couple of computers, a washing machine, and I cannot remember what else.
The moral of this story: Make sure you are also protected from ground strikes.Family Room, Innuos Statement streamer (Roon Core) with Morrow Audio USB cable to McIntosh MC 2700 pre with DC2 Digital Audio Module; AQ Sky XLRs to CAT 600.2 dualmono amp, Morrow Elite Speaker Cables to NOLA Baby Grand Reference Gold 3 speakers. Power source for all components: Silver Circle Audio Pure Power One with dedicated 20 amp circuit to main panel.
Exercise Room, Innuos Streamer via Cat 6 cable connection to PS Audio PerfectWave MkII DAC w/Bridge II, AQ King Cobra RCAs to Perreaux PMF3150 amp (fully restored and upgraded by Jeffrey Jackson, Precision Audio Labs), Supra Rondo 4x2.5 Speaker Cables to SDA 1Cs (Vr3 Mods Xovers and other mods.), Dreadnaught with Supra Rondo 4x2.5 interconnect cables by Vr3 Mods. Power for each component from dedicated 20 amp circuit to main panel, except Innuos Statement powered from Silver Circle Audio Pure Power One. -

yes this is what I was referring to....for awhile there was one that the power company put on the back of the meter it never even made it into the house.(surges) When I inquired it was very expensive but this day in time it may be worth every dime.
